How did you discover otome games genre?

I remember when I was 7 I clicked the remember me otome game on my sister computer and decide to play with it without knowing what is it and she got mad at me for that also when I was 6 or 7 she been saying about how good is Doppelgänger Dawn of the Inverted Souls she still saying it even now I and I got serious why she like that type of game and played amnesia memories whatever website I got from when I was 11

My first otome game was <<Angelique>>. A friend was playing it, and the female protagonist could become a queen and romance many male characters. The control system wasn't simple, but I found it very refreshing, and the characters were beautiful.

That was my first experience with otome games.

Later, anime and manga were published, and subsequent titles were ported to new platforms, with remakes featuring completely new male and female protagonists and story backgrounds. The controls became simpler, and you could pursue the male protagonist and experience various endings simultaneously.
Aside from nostalgia, I still love it!

I can't remember clearly but I think I was doomscrolling TikTok when Covid time and it's amnesia memories and hakuoki lmao

During the peak of flash games, i discovered Pacthesis' dating sim games and have played all of them (and some western otome sims like Always Remember Me). Years later i discovered eroge and otome visual novels

I can't recall very well but the earliest memory i have is playing a voltage game on my phone when i was a teen. I probably got an ad for it and downloaded it hahaha

I think I've always known about it since I liked anime, but I wasn't aware of what really an otome game is. I only started playing them recently.

I love how we all have varied experiences 😆

I got into otome games when Diabolik lovers and Brothers conflict anime came out. I was absolutely obsessed with a character in Brothers conflict and did everything to get more of him. All of that led me to the novel, drama CDs, and otome game play throughs on youtube (srsly thank you to those jp youtubers who uploaded clips back then). Eventually, I got desperate for more of the character I loved and tried to play the game using a psp emulator. When I actually got it working, I did not understand a thing (it was fully Japanese and had a visiting system). Thus I temporarily gave up and played Hakuoki first since it was the only thing with english localization.

I was in the middle school, when I found the otome genre. I was reading manga a lot, and was devastated that she would end up with bad boy all the time. When I just searched in internet where I could read more mangas with different endings. And that's how I found the visual novels and otome games. I am so happy, I searched for different things and now Otome games became one of the favourite things in my life

I don't remember how exactly I came to know but I really liked reading shojo manga and watching anime and probably in related searches found out there's otome games and it instantly peaked my interest. I think TMGS or Angelique was my first otome game.

I first learned about it through an advertisement in a manga magazine I used to read as a child.
I loved romance manga back then, so I remember thinking, "What a fun-looking game!"

i think i first came across one randomly on the app store, but i don't even remember its name. later, a friend recommended an otome game to me, and that's what got me interested in the genre.

The very first otome game I played was *Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side*.
I found it while looking for games with a female protagonist.
I also used to play the *Story of Seasons* (Bokujō Monogatari) series and the *Atelier* series.

Discovered VN's first, specifically galge. Then I started looking for similar kind of games where you could date boys. I first discovered BL, then otome games. At the time otome games barely had translations but there were some western indie devs that were making otome-themed games and that's where I started.

I wasn't really familiar with the dating simulation genre.
I started out by watching a lot of anime, but once I discovered that some of those series were actually based on (otome) games, and I got curious and decided to give them a try.
After that, it seemed like I came to understand the appeal of otome games. 🥰

I remember playing Nikki back then? There were male characters appearing and I was really hoping someone would become Nikki's love interest lol but the whole storyline only focuses on Nikki saving the world, so I was quite disappointed. I complained about this online and people recommended otome games to me

i discovered them through games from the play store and from being too deep into reverse harem anime so i looked up the source material

I hungered fo reverse harem anime and i stumbled upon the brothers conflict anime,
when I read the synopsis I was like "yo this is PERFECT 🔥🔥".
Then I watched the anime and I was like "yo this is GARBAGE 🗑️🗑️"
And then i discovered it was based on an otome and when I gave it a shot and I was like "yo this is pretty good"

But more seriously I'm very grateful to it for introducing me to otomes and vns as a whole. Anime's are very lacking in the reverse harem genre and being able to choose who the mc romances is a god send. No more crossing my fingers so that mc doesn't end up with with a LI i hate

I was into visual novels first. One day I was scrolling through the VN section on a torrent site and came across The Second Reproduction. My teenage eyes at that time COULD NOT skip that cover art lol 😭
