Does it bother you that most VNs only give you two options when making choices?

Honestly, I wish there were more options. After a while, it gets pretty dull when you've only got two standard choices and all they do is switch up the ending for different routes. I want spicier, riskier choices ✨ just for fun, for a little roleplay. And if the MC is completely bland with zero personality, then let me straight up ignore them xD

Give me the chance to shape the MC's personality myself through different options.I don't know if I'm explaining myself well, lol

I'm okay with two. I play without walkthrough, and some otome games just wont let you have the best ending if either 1 of the choices are wrong in a 20 question game. It's a nightmare to replay and guess.

For mechanics, the best use of choice selection for me was Sympathy Kiss. Like choosing that I hate coffee does not change his views on the MC as desirable and the male lead talks about how he feels about coffee and comments on yours. That made more sense than a male lead not liking for for not liking coffee.

For me, two (max three) options is enough. But I wish there were more parts where you have to make a choice overall.
I don't think more options instantly make the vn more "diverse". Because choices are still bound to the mc. And when she/he has too many options, it's like the mc has no personality, no principles and can do whatever you like. Then I don't feel like my choice matters really in the long run, because, first, I can make the mc mean and then make her a saint... In the end, she isn't sticking to one personality. It really bothers me.

Depends, if the game is with a standalone heroine, then not too much; but I wish for options that make the outcome more engaging. Usually I find games like this boring, because at this rate it looks like I don't play; it's just, if my choices don't matter then just make it a book. I don't know.

It does, and they sometimes don't even have the excuse of it being for branching paths as most games I play who have 2 to sometimes 7 dialogue choices have almost the exact same game play but with different endings. Even games I enjoyed have this.

To be honest, I don't really care about the number of choices! What matters is how interesting the options actually are. But I do think it can get a bit boring if the routes to the bad or good endings are too obvious.

I take this as a natural part of the novellas. They have a certain plot plan and various paths for the main character. This isn't an RPG where the player creates a unique character, and there are far more storylines designed around them, which also change based on the context of that uniquely created character.
It's fun when there are more options and they lead to different outcome\scens. But for me, that's not what the novellas are about

I find it a little unsatisfying when there are only two options. I prefer having more options, especially when they offer a wider variety of responses. I enjoy making choices while thinking about all the different possibilities.

I also prefer just having 2 choices because it'd be so hard to see other endings if I was trying to play without a guide. And if there were 5 choices and all 5 choices lead to all 5 different stories / plot, then that's great because it's more content, but if 3 of them lead to same/similar route then I don't really see the point of having 5 choices.

I actually like having a lot of choices. It adds a sense of surprise and makes the game more fun for me.
With only two options, it's often pretty obvious which one will lead to a certain LI, so it can start to feel a bit formulaic. I prefer having more possibilities because it keeps me guessing and makes each playthrough feel more exciting.
