Does bad music ruin your immersion in Otome games?

Yes! Absolutely! In fact, sometimes it's not that the soundtrack is bad, it's just very repetitive, so I have to mute it to prevent going crazy 🤭
 
I think it can. Good music can really enhance my immersion, while annoying or repetitive music can take me out of the experience. I also sometimes find the BGM too loud, so I tend to lower the volume when that happens.
 
I love video game BGM, so listening to the music is one of the things I look forward to when playing a game.
When I come across a really beautiful melody, it can make the whole gaming experience even more vivid and turn it into a wonderful memory.
However, when I play for long periods of time, I can sometimes get tired of songs that are too repetitive.
 
yeah, i haven't encountered any game with bad bgm either (maybe that's because i only play a handful of otome games), so i couldn't tell. i love music anyway, and normally loop visual novel bgms to enjoy the vibe and don't mind repeating it over and over again lol. i don't think bad music is going to ruin my immersion ... i think? maybe it could, i just haven't met one that hurts to listen lmao.
 
Hmm, I do think that bad music can hurt the immersion, but I don't think I've ever personally had that experience. There are definitely some games where the soundtrack really stood out to me—in particular, Norn9 comes to mind. I absolutely loved the music in that game! But I honestly can't think of any otome games where I found the BGM distracting or unpleasant. Maybe I'm just pretty easy to please when it comes to music!
 
I think voice acting and illustrations are important, but I believe the music is just as crucial. In some otome games, a composer I like occasionally appears, and the level of immersion is definitely different then. It makes me think, "Wow, they really composed it to fit the game perfectly." However, I don't think there have been any otome games where I felt like the music just didn't fit at all. I'd say they were generally decent. There was actually one game where the vocal track stood out so much that I was like, "What is this?"😆
 
Yes, sometimes. Music plays a pretty big role in setting the mood for me, so if the music feels awkward or doesn't match the scene, it can pull me out of the story. But if the story and characters are really good, I can usually overlook it.
