Does bad music ruin your immersion in Otome games?

not really, but if the music repeats too often it can get annoying
 
I usually play music on low, so unless it's still too loud and interferes with voices I don't mind
 
so far i never thought an otome game had bad music, i actually always enjoyed them and stop and listen to them for a while. but i do lower it a bit so i can hear the guys voice better. Most memoriable OST are Piofiore and Olympia Soiree and especially Cupid Parasite.

It depends on the vibe. If the game's music is too overwhelming, I'd rather mute it and listen to something else
 
depends, if the music isn't good or repeats too much and gets annoying I mute it and listen to something else
 
If it isn't to my liking, I will mute them and find something else to listen to.
 
I usually keep the volume low, but if the music is bad, I'd probably mute it.

I haven't heard any bad music yet.
 
So far, I haven't really come across any otome game music that was truly unbearable.
At worst, it just feels average or not very distinctive.
When the story is interesting enough to draw me in, the music usually isn't a big issue for me.

That said, well-produced and thoughtfully arranged BGM can really draw you into the text-based world,
adding a lot more depth and atmosphere to the setting.
When the music alone can pull you into a vivid,
almost cinematic version of the story, it becomes a really wonderful experience.

I've never really thought about it, so I guess... no? Especially since sometimes I turn off all sounds except for the characters' voices (or at least turn down everything else so I can hear the voices more clearly).

For me, it's not really "bad" music that bothers me, but repetitive music. Even if I like a song, hearing the same track loop over and over can get annoying 😭 Once I notice the loop, I can't unhear it lol.

That said, sometimes I just play my own music in the background and barely pay attention to the game's OST 😂 It probably takes away a bit from the immersion, but I usually don't mind as long as the music isn't distracting.

Not necessarily. If I find it really grating, I can just play my own music, although I don't remember having encountered OSTs so atrocious that made me do so.

I feel weirdly validated seeing others adjusting the voices' volume to the max and keeping the bg as white noise lol.

Sort of, but it depends. Is there an option to mute? Turn off the music? Is it unvoiced so you lose nothing by silencing your device? It's then I don't care. But if the voice acting is decent or dare I say, great, it becomes a problem for me.

The bigger problem is not the music being bad, but bad for the situation. If a goofy ass song is being played during a very emotional moment, it subtracts from the moment, or to the point where it cycles round to being legendary (a real life example would be playing CBAT during an intimate moment)

Before playing the game, I always go to setting to lower the music because I want the voice actor stands out more on their actions and sounds they makes rather than music. Since I love how they make voice effect they make using mics with different techniques. Also, in the voice actors radio they show how they use their fingers and their soul put into the works. I love their compassion in their job and serious how to make the character stands out. They are really great professional for putting their efforts on it. So I would listen to it rather than music. Sometime, music cover the voice so I don't like loud music in the background. I want to focus on voice and story.

Yes, it does. And the background music will shape my overall rating or gameplay experience of this game,good music is definitely a plus.
 
Luckily I haven't encountered any bad (?) bgms yet! Most of the otome games I've played have a stellar ost ^^ But as a musicophile, it definitely would ruin my experience if it ever happened 〒▽〒
