Me personally, I do. There are so little of them tbh, compared to what men get. In fact, it's pretty hard to find a VL catered to men that DOESN'T have H scenes. And it's the other way around for us😅 Don't get me wrong, regular otomes are also good but sometimes I also want spicy content you know… Hearing your favourite VA moan and whimper is really hot and how the LI's take care of the MC🤭 Also if you have any good eroge otome to recommend please let us now😊

I definitely wish there were more R18 otome games! I completely get where you're coming from.

There are so many games aimed at men with adult content, but when it comes to women, our options are pretty limited. Sometimes I can't help but think, "Women have those interests too!"

Back in the day, Japan used to release more R18 otome games for PC, but nowadays most otome titles seem to be coming out on Nintendo consoles instead. I'm guessing ratings and platform restrictions are part of the reason we don't see many new R18 otome games anymore.

That said, I remember hearing about a PC R18 otome game called The Goddess Of Tears ~Restoration~ that was being crowdfunded in Japan. I didn't back it myself, so I'm not sure how the project is doing, but it did give me hope that the genre isn't completely dead. New releases are definitely rare these days, but they still pop up once in a while.

As for Western otome games, I'm probably not the best person to ask since I don't really follow that scene.

For recommendations, I'd suggest checking out Aromarie's games if you haven't already. They're the studio behind Chou no Doku: Hana no Kusari. Chou no Doku has a dark, melancholic atmosphere with a very Japanese feel, so if that sounds like your kind of game, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try!

I used a translator for this, so it might sound a little awkward. (>_<。)💦

Oh I just realised I have played that game and honestly I loved it! We definitely need more otomes like that with both spice and dark themes

yes and no for me!..(?)

it would be cool if there were more otome eroge! joseimuke erotica tends to be gentler in both writing and art, at least judging by other forms of media. and if you actually have a freedom of choice on which route to choose and what ending to go for, thats even better!! though im totally okay with kinetic vns too x3 like, girlies need some food too!

on the other hand though, for me personally, r18 otome are usually very lackluster in the "otome" part in both art and technical stuff. im generally fine with danseimuke erotica, in fact i love cutieful sexy girls!, but if r18 otome is indistinguishable from r18 galge in terms of art, i dont really see the point in calling it otome.. kinda..? after all, there are many r18 otome that warn you about danseimuke-looking/-feeling r18 scenes. and like, eh? where is this coming from?? danseimuke content in otome?? huh???

and the voice acting part is weird too. most r18 otome ive encountered so far have a voiced mc, and, paradoxically, the voice acting of the heroine is better and more erotic than the love interests..? which to me is also questionable, because why even have voice acting in your game if its on the weaker side? voice acting is one of otome's strongest points in general!!><

but its just me being picky, so feel free to ignore my nonsensical ramblings.......:"3

honestly all of your points are completely valid! I also hate when H scenes in otome r drawn/written like they're made for male gaze… And the voice acting part too! I've played some games where you can turn off MC's voice and honestly it should be a feature in every otome game!

honestly im on the fence about this as well, because while malegaze does indeed exist, femgaze is something thats totally different. malegaze is physical, femgaze is psychological, stuff like that. and devs still try to attract male crowd, even when selling products for women (reminder that crazy chain staff took pride in how their game could be interesting to males as well, which probably explains mcs design). this is why, despite being generally female-friendly, otome doujinshi and games all look Like That. i guess people just havent figured out a way to draw porn that doesnt focus on the female body 80% of the runtime.. or something LOL

i think the ability to turn off mcs voice is present in pretty much every voiced game.. the issue comes when it just, doesnt work LMAO like succulent titles for example. so id rather have the heroine be unvoiced in general. but thats just me being toxic so you should ignore me............!

Honestly the reason why 18+ otome/bl drama cds have been extremely popular for some years now. That's where all the focus on the female gaze (female ear?lol) is for the spicy scenes. I personally turned away from 18+ otome a long time ago because they rarely if ever featured what I liked (aka, a more dominant or assertive female lead and more subby or whimpering male lis). Drama cds filled in that void just perfect.

this is funny because apparently there are some dramacd that are stated to have "danseimuke/male-oriented descriptions of sex". i dont have any examples on hand, but i remember seeing a couple on dlsite, and its so funny to me like how do you add danseimuke stuff to an audio work where the heroine/you doesnt even have a voice at all?? thats some talent! w

the crazy chain part is crazy what😭 why can't women have things catered exclusively towards them without consideration of what men would also like?.. especially when it's a product supposedly aimed at women…

"otome doujinshi and games all look Like That. i guess people just havent figured out a way to draw porn that doesnt focus on the female body 80% of the runtime.. or something LOL" - omg literally my thoughts! it does feel like most artists think that you're supposed to focus mostly on the women's body when it's hetero content, even if the content is aimed at straight women… and it's so annoying! I hope it will change soon because we need more spicy hetero content that focuses on the hot men doing hot things and MC being rather a plot tool lol

I totally get why Bl content is so popular with straight women even if it's not my cup of tea! 😂 I still like to imagine myself at MC's place so that's that

Really? Yikes. Not kinkshaming anyone who listens to that but... why? We have enough male oriented stuff as is. It really doesn't need to keep leaking into our turf. Sigh*

i guess japanese women have different mentality/standards for their porn, because i often see them praise fls body in doujinshi, but still! these reactions open possibilities for so much trash to flood the entire otome floor!! and its already very fragile thanks to grmn fucking up!!!!! i generally disagree with girlies from twitter who say heterosexuals are being oppressed, but the female heterosexual side sure looks like it may be endangered in a way!
this is why im so hesitant on letting men into female spaces. especially when ive seen firsthand how these same men treat women who are interested in danseimuke contents, be it doujinshi or bishoujoge. the amount of genuine bullying these girls experience is disgusting!!

I like the idea of it in theory but the execution is often disappointing. Sex scenes should be connected to the plot! The characters should act consistently in and out of sex scenes!

One of the games I thought executed this the best is
樟屋敷の物語 / Kusunoki Yashiki no Monogatari
It's really funny! And the characters are consistently a little (ok, a lot) crazy! I love it.

I also think it would be great if there were more R18 otome games.

There used to be R18 otome games, but there haven't been any recently. It's a shame.

I wish there were more too! Even though there are few being released these days, I think their quality has improved considerably (?), there are four planned for release that are a delight to my eyes that I'm keeping an eye on. The Goddess Of Tears, Les Grandes Odalisques, Key la box and Gikei - Meiji Mangekyou Sekai, Gikei will still be published by Aromarie, which has a great chance of being an excellent game. It's not an eroge, but it's almost one because of the theme it's chosen, and the one I'm most excited to read is Kimi ni Madoi, Kimi ni Oboreru. I have high expectations for him.

While I'm exited for this game too, I don't think they will touch a lot of adult themes in it. Best we can hope is light innuendos 😏

And I'm neutral on the topic, but it's probably because I haven't seen a good eroge yet. Story is what I'd like to see in otome games, and 18+ are more focused on adult stuff, than character development. Why BL can do that and otome games are struggling with it is beyond me. Need to check games mentioned here

i would love a true otome game with sexual scenes that is true to its name, for a female audience.
(ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

i think because a lot of "otome" games are still marketed heavily to teen girls and its routes are usually experiencing first love, it's hard to write sweet innocent love while throwing in the ol' clam slam and keeping it under the parental advisory level to let said teens buy games ie their main audience.
so there's no reason for most titles to even attempt pushing the boundaries of sexual content.
(・ε・`)

there's also a stigma and shame when it comes to games catered to women so there's already a hurdle to cross there. gooner games for men are considered entertainment and it's just what dudes do...when the same is marketed to women, it's widely ridiculed and called deragotory names which leads to more projects not being created or published to how a previous title experienced. (TヮT)

there's also this odd vibe of romantic games, in western media especially towards women, having to be a jokey, caricature of an otome game because heaven forbid, you want to create something sincere for women. it's like they're bullying their audience to make sure YOU know that this game is a joke, they're not serious and that they're cool, guys. \\ ٩( ᐛ )و //

plus when a game is designed to be for women, there's always an outcry of inclusivity for men when the same is never a huge debacle. ¯\(ツ)/¯

there are some indie VN that seem to be the closest to having more r18 games that would satiate the want. i just don't see big publishers needing to take the risk on r18 otome.

some drama cds' would make for absolute bangers of games, that seems to be the closest avenue of hearing female oriented without much malegaze issue if created. ᕕ༼✿•̀︿•́༽ᕗ

More eroge otomes are certainly a plus, only if it comes with enough warning to ward off minor audiences and handle sensitive topics with care, such as consent in BDSM versus just pure SA. Then I'll gladly give authors my whole salary! ^^
