Do you prefer when the Fl has a voice actor or nah?

I'm definitely more into unvoiced FLs! 👀💕 I like being able to imagine her reactions and responses myself, especially in R18 drama CDs. Sometimes a voiced FL can make the whole experience feel a little less personal, especially when her reactions don't match what I had in mind 😭 I don't mind a few voice lines here and there, but overall, I prefer having room for my own imagination (≧▽≦)

I don't like the heroine's voiceover on the Otome drama CD. The protagonist should be the "listener" 🟰 me.

The heroine's speech makes me unable to imme myself in the situational story.

The voice of the supporting actress can be tolerated, but it doesn't matter. There are not many points in the play.

I really prefer it and wish if they give new otome games a voice for the heroine

You're talking about CDs specifically, so my answer is a big no.

By nature of the media type, CDs are non-interactive. You can only listen and not participate in the story. By having a "mute" FL, it can create the illusion that the guy is directly talking to YOU. Most CD scripts are written this way too. iirc some do provide a PDF of their script which includes default lines of what the FL is supposed to say at each moment, but I can't remember which one... it's not that common from my experience.

Now imagine having a voiced FL in the CD. Then what you'll be listening to is: a guy talking to a girl, the girl responds (not you) with her own words and voice, the guy replies to her and so forth. You - the listener - will be like a third wheel, a fly on the wall. It's weird because the selling point for these products is intimacy.

Tangentially related but conversely, I would say yes to voice for MCs in otome games. Most MCs already have a solid design with defining traits, they're already their own character. Giving them voice helps enhance the character. The tone of the VA can express the personality more too. Plus, games are interactive. The player is already playing as the MC. And most games have options to toggle voice. I don't see how adding a voice would ruin anything. It would be the best of both worlds.

Huh that's an interesting take on it. I've barely played any otome games, so I never took that into consideration.

It's true that Mcs in games are more fleshed out compared to their listener counterparts. So I suppose that because of that, giving them a voice In games would just be a plus🧐

I know what you mean!! Ive personally always enjoyed whenever the mc would make exclamations/ noises, instead of speaking.

For example a 'gasp' if she's surprised or scared etc etc. Idk why per se, it just makes me feel more connected with her character!!🤭

Personally, I prefer it when the heroine is unvoiced. I feel like having her own voice takes me out of the immersion a little, and it feels more like I'm listening to a story in the third person rather than experiencing it myself.
On the other hand, when she doesn't have a voice, it's much easier for me to put myself in her shoes and imagine that I'm the one experiencing the story. (〃ﾟ3ﾟ〃)

R18 Drama CDs and Otome Games nope, don't want it. If it is for all ages I'm okay tho :) But it also depends on the VA and their acting/voice (but thats something that is important for both men and women)

Hello! I totally agree that voiced FL really breaks the immersion.. As listeners, aren't we all the MCs? huehuehue~ like I've listened to an audio with a voiced FL before and I kennat with her overly high pitched voice that keeps distracting me (help-)

I'm like 'hey that's my fave va acting so sweet with romantic with sexy laughter but the voiced FL just keep saying high pitched no's so many times 😭😭

Sometimes, I want the lead role:emjudge: with no voice other times, I prefer the heroine to be heard, not fully voiced, but with just voice effects in visual novels, such as horror games.:onionisfine:

Otome CD: No way. Are there actually CDs that do this? It feels like they wouldn't be an otome CD anymore and instead just be a general drama CD.
Otome game: This depends on how unique the MC's character is. For example, I think Arisu Yurika would've benefitted from being voiced, because she's not made to be relatable or self insertable or anything, but most other MCs are fine voiced or unvoiced to me.

In drama CDs voiced FL feels like a crime because it's made to be as close to ML x Listener, compared to games where it can vary based on the game and characters. Like games I prefer voiced FL because then I don't have to focus as much on reading

Please forgive me for using a translator to communicate, so there may be inaccuracies. I think this kind of CD drama is more about bringing people a sense of immersion. If the female protagonist has voice acting, it feels like listening to someone else's conversation, and I'm just a bystander. In games, I also don't really like the female protagonist having voice acting. If I play a game with voice acting, I'll turn off the female protagonist's voice (actually, I silently read my lines in my heart, as if I'm speaking them myself).

I totally agree! Sometimes it's better to silently read your lines, than hear someone else do it for you.🤫
