i still play fully voiced vns, but i'm completely fine with unvoiced ones too since i play a lot of indie vns on itch.io. as long as the story is good, that's what really matters to me.

It doesn't matter to me whether a game has voice acting. I know several good VNs that don't. So, for me, the most important thing is that the story is interesting and leaves a strong impression. Besides, I'm already "tired" of some VAs and sometimes turn off the voice acting for their characters lol

Well, of course I prefer it when a game is fully voiced, since I can understand some Japanese by ear to a certain extent. But when there's no voice acting and my translator messes up, it really slows things down.

Personally, if I ever come across non-voiced VNs, I'd rather read book with illustrations each page LOL (particularly Phantom of the Opera Illustrated classic if I really need that 'imagining guide' at least I'd know I'm on the right track). But then again, I would also see myself listening to audio books (much engaging!). So to just completely summarize the blabber, I prefer the Visual Novel to be package-wise (voiced as well), besides, it's among the essence that create the Visual Novels' existence (particularly their appeal ;)

I'm especially looking forward to the story and the artwork, so I don't really mind whether the game has voice acting or not.
Having voice acting definitely makes the experience feel more immersive and brings the game to life, but it wouldn't be a deciding factor for me when it comes to buying a game.

I can understand 70-80% Japanese, so I don't need to rely on dubbing to understand the plot.

I don't have much requirements for voice actors. As long as the script and characters are enough to attract me, I can accept it without sound.

I've been reading unvoiced VNs for a looong time, before I even discovered the ones with voice acting, haha
As someone who plays PC98 eroge and doujin games every so often, I got used to unvoiced and don't mind it. I do care if the BGM is bad though (if it is, I'll play the game muted lol)

Since my first otoge were browser games with no dubbing at all, I usually prefer no voice acting to partial, sometimes it gets really repetitive and annoying! ;b

I like playing fully voiced games, it makes the experience more immersive
But playing without voice acting is quite good too. I truly like playing games in my temp because I would not need to wait for the phrase to be voiced until reading next line
When I only started playing otome games, I didn't even know that having voice acting was available.
Then came the time when I played only fully-voiced games. And didn't really like playing non-voiced ones.
Nowadays I don't have strong preference to the availability of the voice acting. So as long as I like the premise, I would play the game

If I had to choose one, I'd prefer a full-voice game. Because the characters' emotions come through so vividly, I can enjoy it much more.

It doesn't matter to me if it is voiced or not, as long as it has a good story i will play it. If you only play games with voice acting you are missing out on amazing western visual novels, also choice of games and twine games.

I prefer it when it's fully voiced, but if I see that a game looks really fun or the story sounds interesting, I'll play it anyway, even if it isn't voiced

I prefer VNs with voice acting. Tbh if a game doesnt have a voiced cast I usually just pass on it. No matter how good the writing is I need to hear the characters to actually get immersed so non voiced games just arent for me

honestly it depends, im used to no voice acting in smaller vns but as of now im used to fully voices visual novels so it feels weird when its not fully voiced

Actually, a voice actor's vivid performance can somewhat soften the impact of flaws in the script.
And with a work that has no voice acting at all, it really comes down to the writing itself.
If the writing can still draw you in and leave a strong impression without any voice bringing the characters to life, then it's a whole other level of immersion.

Yup! I kinda assign some known-to-me Japanese voice actors to certain characters.
Voices are always a plus and optional (not to mention faster to play/finish without voices as I tend to take the time to listen 😅 which really adds to the playing time 😂).

Yes! As long as the writing is good, it's not a problem for me. Maybe because I started playing otome games before they were fully voiced. Full voice acting is a nice bonus, but I do read faster when the lines aren't voiced.
