Do you get voice fatigue from hearing the same seiyuus?

I've started playing over requiemz and claude was my top pick for my favorites but when i heard him i literally couldn't unhear crius castlerock from even if tempest, I don't mind LIs sharing the same seiyuus sometimes its a happy coincidence to find out someone you're familiar with voicing an unexpected character like i was surprised hearing KENN voicing shelby from cupipara and yukimaro from 9rip and it was a great experience!

BUT you'd expect a new face to have a different voice at least or some range, especially since it seems they typecasted makoto furukawa for the "older caring brother" role and it just turned me off the character as a whole it gets repetitive at some point 💔

I'm curious to see if other people had a similar experience with voice fatigue !

I have been lisenting to drama cd of Nakazawa when I was young. Since, I listen drama cd once or twice per week. I really get busy a lot during work day and I usually passed out when listening. I only listen during weekend to make myself good sleep hygiene no device before sleeping. So, I rarely get tired from Nakazawa and I love his soothing voice that helps me calm a lot. Right now, he is busy with offical works at theater so he does not appear a lot in drama cd that much now days. So I am listening the good unique stories from drama cd and finding my new fave.

Yeah, especially if I know them prior from an anime, so sometimes I'm biased and can't seem to fit the voice and character onto each other.

yes, that's the worst feeling! When you're so hyped for a new LI based on their design but the second they open their mouth you're just like "...oh, it's you again." I have a specific VA who I am so exhausted by right now because he does the exact same tone in practically everything. :lapi_annoyed:

Honestly, I kind of get the seiyuu fatigue. It seems that depending on the era, there are some voice actors that you're bound to hear a whole lot, and even when you're a fan of them it can get a bit exhausting. Fortunately I haven't personally gotten to the point where I'm getting sick of someone in particular, but I think it's important to have strategies to avoid the fatigue in the first place. For example, if you play a game from the early 2010s you're less likely to hear the same cast than you would in a game from the 2020s, that kind of thing. Same thing goes with anime.

It's less of an issue with voice actors that have a huge range, but you can definitely tell when a seiyuu was typecast, for lack of a better word. Sometimes I'll look at some casts, see a character and who was cast to voice them, and end up like "oh of course you're CV X" lmao

For me, if seiyuus use the same voice for the same type of character, eventually they blend into one big character and it's difficult to distinguish from which game they are. I prefer to be surprised by seeing voice actor's name, not go "ah, it's you again". At least let them play different character types 😓

i'll definitely keep that in mind thank you very much! diversifying the game eras is a great idea to avoid the fatigue i'll start doing that

agreed, i know they're just doing their work but if its the same voice and close personalities they just get lumped together and i can't see them as different characters

In my case, it depends... If the voice actor uses the same voice and acting style for every character, I'll just picture the same person in my head and yes, i will get voice fatigue. Buuuuut... if the style is different, and I won't relate it with other characters, then it is fine for me!

Yeah, sometimes, but its not the seiyuus fault! I think there are just times where i see alot of works of him back to back so it gets old. When that happens I usually take a break from listening to his voice. And I agree, makoto furukawa is EVERYWHERE in otome land right now 😂

Even with otome CDs, since Mitsuhashi Wataru is like the king of doujins ive listened to so many of his works and become, like, desensitised to his voice? But after like a few months of not listening to him I start craving the Mitsuhashi Flavour again and listen to his cds again. Its a addiction I swear lol

Whenever I hear a LI voiced by Morikubo Showtaro, I always end up thinking of Reiji from Uta no Prince-sama haha! 😂 I think it's partly because his voice is so distinctive, and Reiji is such an iconic character that it's hard not to associate the two.

Sometimes, but I get over it easily. As I play new titles I can see how several seiyuus are repeated throughout the year, and that is a bit tiring because I would like to see new ones in the cast. So looking for an "old" game is refreshing because the seiyuus vary, I think there will soon be another gen change, although the truth is that certain seiyuus are a gold mine lol they will continue for a long time

For example the new game of mintlip+ they are all recognized, and among them Suzuki Ryota is one, let's say new to receiving so many LI roles, and that one excites me more than seeing the rest, though I know they will give a great performance

Honestly, I've felt this way too. When I keep hearing the same voice and acting style for similar types of characters, I eventually start wanting something different. But even with the same voice actor, I can enjoy their performances with fresh ears when they use a different tone or acting style. That's why I often wish voice actors weren't typecast so much and would get the chance to play a wider variety of characters!

Haha nooo for me I love hearing same voice actors if its one's I like~~~ It is nice for seiyuus to get to voice diff personality characters though! A big example of that for me was Kuroda Takaya voicing Udo Tatsumi for SA7!! (Im a yakuza series fan haha) I was soo surprised as I did not know till I played it ( ゚ロ゚)!! Haha in a good way 😍

Definitelyyyy, but it's more of my problem and not theirs...It just means I've been playing around with too many games lol. But that's why I get really excited when a VA I love who doesn't do a lot of otome games like Irino Miyu or Ono Kensho shows up. They're rare so they automatically become the first route I do.

Oddly, enough, not really like I have 50-60+ cds of the same VAs, but then I take a break if I'm tired of him lol. It's more like I miss XYZ VA who used to be cast in more BLCD or Otome games but now are 100% only new roles are in anime and games since he made it big and oh well.

Also, I'm limited to only ENG Otome games localized, so we're already pretty far out for new game releases on the switch so we'll get games when certain VA who were often cast during that time period too like Hana Awase's LI cast no longer does VA overall sadly but still great.

i haven't experienced this yet, so i think i'm fine with hearing the same seiyuus.

actually, i rarely pay attention to seiyuu names. sometimes, i hear a familiar voice, and when i look it up, it turns out to be the same seiyuu.

i mostly focus on the characters they voice rather than who voices them. i've watched so many anime without realizing that some characters were voiced by the same person. i only found out later through youtube videos about seiyuus and their roles.

back then, i didn't even know that seiyuus had their own fanbase and could have so many fans. i usually just watched anime without thinking much about the people behind the characters.

then, one day, i met some fujoshi in real life, and they were so excited to talk about seiyuu names and their roles. at first, it was just a normal otaku conversation, but i vaguely remember that something i said brought out their fujoshi side. i can't remember what i said anymore, but they suddenly started talking nonstop about seiyuus and their roles while i just sat there in silence, witnessing a whole new world in (*´∇`*)

i was honestly surprised that people could remember so many seiyuu names and the characters they had voiced. it seemed overwhelming to me because, as far as i know, one seiyuu can voice so many different characters.

as for me, i only know some seiyuu names from drama cds because i come across them more often. even now, i can only remember a few. for anime and otome games, i rarely pay attention to the voice cast.

and somehow, because of another random experience, i eventually got into drama cds and otome games, and now i'm here lol (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)

so i think i don't really experience voice fatigue because i rarely pay attention to who voices the characters in the first place.

I agree. Moreover, When there's no distinction in the acting, it brings to mind characters from previous works, which makes it hard to stay immersed.
