Do you get FOMO easily?

In my case, when it comes to console games that catch my attention, I can usually wait. But when I see posts about other people playing them or talking about the LI that caught my interest, I get fomo lmao I avoid any mention of the plot or how the relationship develops because I want to experience everything blind.

I've been trying to control that feeling because I play at my own pace, especially with non-loc jp titles. By the time I finally get the chance to play them, I end up progressing slowly, and my hype eventually settles down. I still enjoy the experience, but it's never quite the same as when I first got excited about it.

From there, my experience is defined by the game itself. But if I see a lot of reactions from other players, I can't help but develop some expectations.

Yeah I tend to get fomo easily too, espescially if the game received a lot of attention on any social media that I follow (discord, reddit, or this forum). The problem is I play very slow, usually it takes me months to finish one full title (I'm the full ending kind of gal) so when I see those fellow otoge players speed-reading through them I feel pretty left out and sad myself :akazukin_dead:

Yes, intense FOMO 😥 as a poor, busy college student who is not yet fluent in japanese, the time i have to play otome is so little, i cant really afford many games, and I cant play japanese only titles either :( I end up vicariously living through other otome gamers who post snippets/edits of otome games 😭

if the game is getting a lot of hype or praise around its release then maybe i feel it for a day or two but one look at my backlog makes me relax about it because there's no point in me stressing over a game if it'll take me a month or two to even get around to playing it lol ^^

ig the main thing i feel fomo about is actually the community experience? if lots of people are playing something together it's fun seeing everyone's reaction to the same things or how everyone makes different judgements of the same characters ! and so you end up wanting to be a part of that too ... that kind of experience is more fomo inducing than the actual want to play the game itself ^^;; but it's something you can easily avoid by simply distancing yourself from the community for a while

I try not to get too carried away by hype. Just because other people like a character/game doesn't mean I will, and even if they don't like it, I still might.

And if I read too many spoilers I will just wait to play until I forget them. No big deal :)

I don't get fomo easily, usually I will wait for a while to see the reviews before I buy the game I want. I'm quite picky, unless it's something I absolutely love, I can resist the temptation.

For games I'm interested in but haven't had time to play yet, I try to avoid reading any discussions, guides, or reviews. I don't want preconceived notions to affect my gameplay. It's best to try it myself first.

Maintaining a sense of novelty and anticipation will provide more motivation, provided that time is limited and I can only play a little each day. The progress will be longer, but I have the patience to complete the game.

I don't really get that much FOMO easily since I don't really interact with communities on social media and my feed's mostly full of artists and photographers. Also, there's out of media that's in my backlog so I would rather focus on those first.

I got this feeling whenever I spend time scrolling through twitter. I love seeing players enjoy games, but I just cannot enjoy it as much when I play. But nowadays it got better, I am not forcing myself and just play whatever I like

Nowadays no. My interests and tastes don't always align with others so I'm more cautious about current treads than anything. In the past when I used to play gacha, the FOMO was almost unbearable but that was valuable experience for me where it ended up overlapping with my other hobbies. It's easy to stop myself from doing anything on impulse because of that.

I used to be more susceptible to FOMO when I was younger, but these days I view it as a great way to go insane. It's easy to stay abreast of things when you live the life I was living (effectively a shut-in still attending school), but now that I am an adult with jobs and responsibilities outside of myself that just isn't feasible, nor is it the kind of life I want to live these days.

I just do things for myself, at my own pace. I think that's the healthiest approach.

Totally agree, also I play slow so there's no point in stressing about it

X2 I prefer not to have preconceived ideas, the only bad thing is that I'm always surrounded by that content lol
