Do you think it's worth buying a Switch console for otome games?
I just have a friend who bought a switch console and goes to work happy. I liked the idea. I've also heard that games are more expensive. I hadn't thought about censorship, but it's still a downsideIf its worth it or not mainly depends on how you prefer to actually play games! Like if you have acess to a PC / Laptop most visual novels are available on those platforms but a lot of people prefer hand held gaming and the nature of a visual novels gameplay being majority reading means the "gameplay" doesnt change much between platforms (you either click a mouse or press the A button really XD)
The switch has loads of otome games so you wont be pressed for choice but fair warning that if your after anything NSFW youll be out of luck, a majority of Otome and BL games that get ported over to switch with those elements will get the censored treatment. If your only after SFW titles tho you wont be missing anything too major! (switch titles can also be a bit expensive also and are less likely to go on sale as frequently as their PC counterparts and there can be price discrepancies also with some games being more expensive as a switch or PC copy) If you want to buy games digitally in japanese youll also need to make a japanese nentendo acount but thats generally no less painful than trying to buy japanese games from japanese websites online also XD.
My advice would be, look at the catalog of games available in comparison to what you want to play and see what works for your situation. I play all game types so having a switch console is deffinetly worth it whereas if I only played one genre of game I would probably think about the decision more! If I had no pc than a switch is cheaper than a pc so i would get a swtch but if i had a pc which had acess to the games I wanted I would think "why would I need the switch unless I preffer to play handheld".
I always try to support the developer by purchasing a game that I like.If we support the games by purchasing them, the companies make more. So its always good to buy the games you like the most on console.
They say that you can't access the internet in a modified version, and there's a risk of being blocked. Do you think this is true?Personally, I would say no unless it's modded. Even past that, it depends on what you like to play.
I prefer Switch emulators on PC because otome titles aren't too demanding system wise. You also have a bigger screen, can stream to others easily, and it's very simple to use translation programs with them as well.
The money saved this way (and on games) could go farther in one of the co-buy groups to get otome games for everyone and yourself on an emulator.
If it's solely for otome games and you think you won't be playing other games, you could consider getting a Switch Lite instead (you can't project the game to a TV or another larger screen that way but it's more affordable than the normal Switch or more expensive versions)Do you think it's worth buying a Switch console for otome games?
There is but it is very very difficult to get blocked on the switch based on how they are set up.They say that you can't access the internet in a modified version, and there's a risk of being blocked. Do you think this is true?
When making your choice, I think you should also consider the environment where you want to play.Do you think it's worth buying a Switch console for otome games?
Ahh if you're wanting to play AAA games on it then Switch Lite probably won't cut it (can't really hook it up to hotel TVs and such)I already have a ps4, and I love it. I play shooters and AAA games on my ps4. I'd like to have something portable that I can carry with me and use during breaks at work and on trips.
I haven't heard about the Steam Deck. But there are many exclusive games on the Switch, including Otome. I don't play through an emulator on my PCAhh if you're wanting to play AAA games on it then Switch Lite probably won't cut it (can't really hook it up to hotel TVs and such)
Are you interested in a lot of Switch exclusive games (otome or not)? Steam Deck is another portable option if you're okay with missing out on those ones

I'll read about the Steam DeckThere are versions of emulators that allow for it, and some allow local connection only. If you're wanting to play online and multiplayer games, I would go with a regular console or maybe a Steam Deck. Emulators work on Steam Decks from what I've seen, but I know less about that process.
Budget and currency as someone else stated, is another factor to consider. Supporting fully is nice if possible, but games can be expensive if you're wanting a lot and depending on location. If you know you'll be careful about going online, my recommendation is an emulator on a laptop for the portability and co-buying for the otome titles you like.
Agreeing on that, I know games are expensive but some have huge sales from time to time (like that time bustafelows eng got -90%, and the game is absolutey NOT worth 4 bucks, it's worth much more)If we support the games by purchasing them, the companies make more. So its always good to buy the games you like the most on console.
From your other replys indicating that you play other game genres and that your after specifically something handheld it definetly sounds like a switch could be up your alley. Basiclly every console release of visual novels comes with the downside of censorship unfortunately, even steam games often require patches to return content to them so if you have any NSFW titles your after I would probably recomend geting them directly from the publisher websites if you chose to purchace them. Otherwise the switch has a good catalog overall with a good mix of games available both digitaly and physically in Japanese and English. I tend to prefer to buy physical copies due to console space and also just to own them and support the production and translation of new games but most visual novels are quite efficient with their space so even if you get an original switch or a switch lite you would probably be able to fit a fair few titles on there.I just have a friend who bought a switch console and goes to work happy. I personally don't play any download beyond 10% and then decide to buy it or not. From your other replys indicating that you play other game genres and that your after specifically something handheld it definetly sounds like a switch could be up your alley. Im the same! I download if a game legit exists nowhere to buy or to test before i buy if its anoying as hell to purchace, otherwise i just dont really need to because i probably already own it XDI personally don't play any download beyond 10% and then decide to buy it or not.
My otome game shelf is overflowing. When I do buy games I purchase the limited edition or the sweet boxes / hime boxes. I visit all the pop up cafes and merch pop ups etc
I love physical copies a lot but have started to back up a lot of games so I can have the freedom of playing on my PC.
I also have. A modded switch so I can put my PC saves on my switch and continue from bed if I want to.Im the same! I download if a game legit exists nowhere to buy or to test before i buy if its anoying as hell to purchace, otherwise i just dont really need to because i probably already own it XD
I love the official merchI personally buy everything I really want, usually quite expensive collectors editions too. I also support the company in other ways, such as Merch ordering and engaging with content.
If you cannot afford the games, I recommend always buying OFFICAL MERCH of the content you want to support. That also helps fund new projects.
