windscribe is pretty good for their free plan. I ended up upgrading to the paid only bc there was a $10 a year deal, but the only bad thing i remember with their free plan is they spam you with these annoying 2015-redditor-style emails, so I would use a burner email / an email you don't actually use often to sign up for it

I agree with Mullvad been using it for a good while.
They have a good track record of getting raided by the government and them not finding any evidence/logs from people since they actually don't keep them.
Also it has basically all the possible payment methods available even cash by mail.
