Welcome to the [hl-green]Uploading Made Easy[/hl-green] guide!

This was made for two main reasons:

(1) I've come across quite a few users who say uploading is either scary, hard or time-consuming. Maybe at first but once you find a style that works for you and you get used to the basic rules, you may be surprised how smoothly it goes!

(2) We want to encourage our community to share their links/games in their own threads because:
  • It will help our community and library grow.
  • This makes it easier for users to find your games/links when searching the forums.
  • It will enable our section to adhere to AS rules.
  • It avoids potential conflicts/issues that could come from posting in existing threads in the download section.

WARNING:
Uploading Rules, Guidelines and Tips

Please stay on topic. Only post things in here about uploading.

[hl-yellow]The General Download Rules and Restrictions[/hl-yellow] apply to all download sections, including ours! [hl-yellow]This is essential reading.[/hl-yellow]
  • It goes through important rules briefly.
  • Nobody is expecting you to be perfect but we ask that you do your very best.
  • Don't be afraid or discouraged if AS Staff Mod your thread- we just want to help!
[hl-yellow]The Explicitly Banned Imagehosts and Redirects post[/hl-yellow] applies to our section too. [hl-yellow]This is essential reading.[/hl-yellow]. A safe bet is to use AS' imagehost [hl-yellow]I WANT TO F*[/hl-yellow].

Do NOT repost/reupload another user's [hl-blue]link(s)[/hl-blue] without their permission.
  • If you absolutely want to use another's links, it's best to get their permission.
  • If you do get permission, please credit the creator of the links.
  • If the link creator wants to be anonymous, mention something like "Link(s) kindly donated with permission from an anonymous user."
  • If you're ever in doubt, feel free to PM [hl-yellow]MilkyBarKid[/hl-yellow]!
If your original links die in your thread, DO NOT create a new thread- you must update your existing thread instead.

The bare minimum information all game upload threads must have:
  • The thread Prefix
  • The thread Title
  • A working download link, of course! :D
  • Cover art
  • Romanized title
  • Original title
  • Platform
  • Release date
  • Developer/Publisher
  • FOR HENTAI GAMES: A VNDb (Visual Novel Database), Getchu and/or an official website (MUST wrap official websites in [noparse][/noparse] or it will hotlink to official sources, which is against the rules) link.
  • Note that as long as you include each of the above once, you don't have to repeat yourself. e.g. if your Thread Prefix is "PC", you don't have to specify it's a PC game in the actual post.
  • The templates will always include the above requirements. Template #1 only has what you need so it's a good place to start if you're inexperienced. Each template has two sections that explain what to do if you get stuck.
  • If you feel very strongly about your game/links staying within AS, it's best to make this clear! The templates include advice on how to do this.
You can share any Otome/BL content you want as long as it's within AS rules, though please consider sharing something not available. The best ways to see what we're missing is to check our [hl-yellow]Otome and BL Game Index[/hl-yellow] or [hl-yellow]fulfill somebody's game request![/hl-yellow]

Uploading becomes far quicker if you save your own template. I like to save my BB codes on Notepad and just copy-paste it when making a new post.

If you're interested in colorful BB Codes, visit this [hl-yellow]Fancy BB Codes thread![/hl-yellow]

Recommended for newcomers as it only has what you need.
Just copy-paste the contents of the CODE box below into your post, fill in the information needed (see the other two tabs for more information if you need) and post your upload!
You don't have to use this exactly as the codes say. Feel free to customize but you must keep the bare minimum information.

  • Prefix: Select appropriate one.

Thread title: [At minimum, you will need the game's title here]

    Post:
    Code:
    [PLAIN][img]Cover art here[/img]

    [B]Romaji title:[/B]
    [B]Original title:[/B]
    [B]Platform:[/B]
    [B]Release date:[/B]
    [B]Developer/Publisher:[/B]
    [B]VNDb:[/B]

[Download link here (use [HIDE=1][/HIDE] if you want)][/PLAIN]

  • Required fields are colored red. If you customized this template, make sure you don't forget these!

    • Thread Prefix: Pick one that is the closest to what you're uploading. If you're uploading a game but it's not on the PC or PSP, choose "Console".
    • Thread title: At minimum, it should contain one of the game's titles and its developer/publisher. Other information you could include:
      • For Japanese games, both its romaji and Japanese titles.
      • The game's platform if your thread prefix is "Console"
      • The game's developer/publisher
      • If it's BL or not. Just indicate this with "[BL]" somewhere in the thread title.
      • The game's language especially if it's translated. Majority of users will assume the game is in its original language unless you clarify.
      • The game's file size in MB/GB.
      • If it's a doujin/indie game.
    • Cover art: The official cover/box art of the game. [hl-yellow]DO NOT hotlink cover art from official sources. Better to not hotlink anywhere at all[/hl-yellow]. It's best to create an imagehosting site account (see the rules above) and create a link to the cover art.
    • Romanized title: The game's title in romanized Japanese or any other foreign language not using the English alphabet (such as Chinese or Korean).
    • Original title: The game's title in its original language, including its original scripture (e.g. kanji/kana for Japanese)
    • Platform: What system (such as PC, PSP, PSV, etc.) the game is played on.
    • Release date: The date the game was first available to buy/officially download. Remember to stick to the date relevant to the game's particular release, e.g. if a game was originally on PC and you're uploading its PSV port, use the port's release date.
    • Developer/Publisher: The company that created the game (developer) and/or distributed/produced it (publisher). This is usually the company name most obviously associated with the game but if in doubt, check VNDb.
    • VNDb: The game's Visual Novel Database link. In rare cases a game doesn't have a VNDb page, just say "N/A".
    • Download link: Where you put your link to the game's files. You can choose to wrap HIDE tags ([HIDE=1][/HIDE]) around your download link but note that unregistered users can't see a lot of the otome section's content anyway as they're prompted to log-in to view.
