Sorry if you didn't get backups but the sign have been there for year. Just look at when this thread was opened. After that time when the site got shut down for several months it has only gotten worse, even if it was back online.

It's probably finally dead, you should try to find them elsewhere. Maybe try on Nyaa or ask around here if people have them.

I have been using nyaa.si for the last days and I have had no problem with any malware, I don't know how's the situation on pantsu or if there is any truth to it, if it's just one person posting these comments it's probably not true.

I keep them if I like the game, especially if it's not an official copy because you never know if it will become difficult or impossible to find some time in the future. Then again when i really like something i buy it if i can

We don't know what really happened but someone said the owner of nyaa shut down the site by himself for fear of legal action, not necessarily because there was already one in progress

It's so slow though, it seems to go out every now and then, at this point i have not been using hongfire for months and i don't think i'll be back there.

Personally i've already decided to move away. Even though i hadn't been a member for long i liked the users there but I don't see a reason to stay on a broken forum that's not being fixed in the near future and as a result of it is constantly losing traffic and users, not to mention nonnew users...

Those are probably the ones coming directly from google to various posts on the site for programs, tutorials etc. To keep it in prospective, here on anime-sharing "There are currently 8904 users online. 184 members and 8720 guests" so those numbers are not out of the ordinary.

while the update may have improved things a bit there are still moments when the forum is really slow or doesn't load at all

It's back, though with an old skin and no avatars and the dates are screwed up, but most of the content up to last month seems to be there! Hopefully this whole mess is over...
