  1. What pulls you first when getting into an otome game/BL?

What pulls me in is the artwork then the summary and then whether it's voiced and then the language. But what keeps me is the story.
  2. General BL Games Discussion Thread

I think playing them out of order doesn't really detract from anything. Not sure about Suito wa Hakumei, but the first three tokyo onmyouji, tokyo 24 ku, and taishou meibusline could easily be read as stand-alones maybe the super well read and investigative individuals might find some...
  3. Do you prefer a "no personality" MC or a "set personality" one?

I'm fine with no personality as long as the choices I make matter in the narrative, that the choices build into a personality, that the choices I make are ultimately a reflection of myself, and they impact the larger narrative, kind of like a choose your own adventure book, or like Netflix's...
  4. Route Order or The Heart Decides Order?

I'm route order too, I like planning ahead. If some routes are more spoilery and I accidently/by choice, read those first, I get really bored in the ones with less story (overall plot mystery). That's why I always play with a guide on hand, honestly though I can't even call it playing at that...
  5. What otome/BL games are you currently playing and what are your impressions so far?

I've started Tokyo Satsujinki, it's BL and because I just started, I can't really warn you more than what the tags on vndb say. But so far, it's pretty good, although it really is trying to take it's time to show the very lived in world of these characters, so it's quite a bit lore heavy. Even...
  6. Are there any routes that made you cry while playing?

For me, I've only felt tears at basically every route, especially Nijou's, in Re;quartz Reido, every ending is bittersweet but so fulfilling.
  7. What games marked your childhood?

Probably all the pokemon ds games, especially soul silver and platinum. There was fashonista game, I forget what it's called, and cooking mama. And outside of that, wii sports for how much it made fun of my "physical" age.
  8. First anime you ever saw!

It was 100% Pokemon and then some Naruto I think, toonami literally introduced me to anime but I still didn't know that it was any different than regular old cartoons. But by technicality, Pokemon
  9. What is your opinion on Time Travelling?

If I were to ever get superpowers I've always wanted ones that could manipulate time, it sounds like so much fun. And all the visual novels and games and stories with time shenanigans are always the best, but it's really hard to pull off, there has to be really good rules and continuity, or it...
  10. Are you a Mobile or Desktop user?

I'm on desktop. It just feels more natural for me
  11. Do you finish all routes or only your favorites?

I finish all routes, I'm a completionist, it bugs me when I leave something incomplete, but through that I tend to find unexpected fun through it though
  12. What do you think about gacha and microtransactions in smartphone otome games?

Gacha sucks, and feels a bit redundant to an otome story, like what do you mean core plot point, or character narrative is blocked beyond the pay wall. I'd rather buy the game once for the entire experience, than pay for snippets that may or may not be good.
  13. Do you use the Auto Play function when reading VNs?

Never. I've tried it for English translated stories, but it's always to slow or too fast, and somehow even when the story is interesting, I tend to nod off if I'm not the one clicking the button.
  14. A doubt about BL games coming from a noob who's never played one before!

Most BL has very defined characters, not to say that they're all interesting but they are their own people, very rarely will you find someone you can pretend is a Mary Sue or could be a conduent for yourself. That and BL has a tendency to be explicit sexually, there are some that don't follow...
  15. What VN genres have you read that aren't focused on romance?

I would say I'm pretty open to everything, but I've read some good mysteries and scifis, and thriller.s My favorites in the non-romantic category, are the Zero Escape series, the Infinity Series, Danganronpa, Chizome no Hana, Your Turn to Die, Mamiya was good(hated the "sequel"), same thing...
  16. what phone games are you played/playing now?

I've probably played more but I certainly don't remember them all, and this is in no specific order. FGO - Deleted Alchemy Stars - Deleted/Game Ended Mystic Messenger - Deleted/Completed Obey Me - Deleted Love Nikki - Deleted Ensemble Stars - Deleted Uta no Prince - Deleted Hatsune Miku Colorful...
  17. Do you have any pets? O:

I do, I have two dogs. One's a minpin mix and the other's a corgi mix, but honestly the only corgi thing about her is her curly tail, she looks like a mutt otherwise. A very adorable mutt.
  18. Do you like secret love interests or not?

I both do and don't if the secret love interest has been involved in the narrative from the beginning and plays a role in other routes than they're amazing and rewarding, if they're out of left field , scarcely seen and mentioned than it's feels like a whole lot of nothing, especially because...
  19. What Otome/BL game are you currently playing right now?

I'm currently playing Shinoda Shinjuku Tantei Jimusho ~Karajishi Botan, and it's not too bad. I appreciate the very adult (not in a sexual way) characters, and the very lived in world. The fact that the story feels like it could be an episode of a tv series makes it very interesting. It's not...
  20. General BL Games Discussion Thread

I haven't played Tokyo Satsujjinki yet, but I've played Mebiusline, and honestly the way it ended doesn't make me think there's any real-world changing difference that it could've made in Tokyo Satsujinki's history. Mebiusline doesn't really have an earth-shattering mystery, or a heel face turn...
