I've been doing well! IRC eats up a lot of time so I'm trying out different ways of talking with people. I've never really been a forum person, so let's hope it goes well :)

CCCP is the codec pack and the player, xy-vsfilter renders subtitles. Think of xy-vsfilter as a plugin. They do different things and you should be using both at the same time - configured correctly, xy-vsfilter will automatically load along with CCCP when you open a file.

The player setup most fansubs expect you to have is CCCP and xy-vsfilter (http://code.google.com/p/xy-vsfilter/downloads/detail?name=xy-VSFilter_3.0.0.65_Installer.exe). If you have a problem with anything else, you'll probably be told to install these anyway.
