I might not be able to articulate my thoughts well on this lol. I know for sure that there's a difference between like small minigames, which can be removed with no consequence, and a fundamental part of the gameplay, such as a combat system. IIRC, I know I said that I wished there was more otomes with a bit more gameplay in another thread, but I would rather have a game doing something well rather than adding something it most likely don't need to add or wouldn't do well with.
I'm a massive fan of rhythm games. But unless its gameplay is actually fundamental to the game, I would rather just play an actual rhythm game for that. Like there's a difference between an rhythm game with visual novel segments and a visual novel with rhythm game segments, if you know what I mean. But if a game's just a visual novel, I would rather it just be reading and maybe some interactive elements such as making choices.
Basically: Minigames? Not really, though I don't mind if it's easy and non-intrusive. Gameplay? Only if it's not to be meant to be a 100% visual novel and it's some kind of RPG or something else. I'm fine with minigames in gacha otomes though lol.
