What do you think about mini-games in otome?

I have mixed feelings about minigames
Some of them have puzzles that are pretty difficult, so I end up looking up guides for help.
But the minigames are cute, though

When it comes to bonus mini-games, I'm in the camp that thinks they're unnecessary because they're usually either too easy or not fun enough, which ruins the immersion.
If I want to play mini-games, I'll look for them in other games; I just want to focus on reading.

I prefer reading purely immersive novels based on plot. Because I enjoy following the storyline of the game to experience it, the process is more focused. If some mini games are added, it will distract my attention and prevent me from experiencing the game plot better. I really enjoy playing pure plot games. I am not tired of playing pure plot games and have a more immersive experience. However, mini games are a bit exhausting for me, and I am more focused on experiencing the game's storyline.

I've played Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 6 DX, and it has a pretty substantial battle system rather than what I'd consider a minigame. Combat actually makes up a big part of the gameplay. When I first played it, I had a lot of fun with the battles. But after replaying the game multiple times to go through different routes, they started to feel a bit exhausting, and I eventually found myself playing them on autopilot lol.

So I think minigames are fun as long as they don't have too much impact on progression. If they're a major part of the game, I can see them becoming a little tiring on second or third playthroughs, especially when I'm replaying mainly for the story or a different LI.

Sometimes I find them annoying and unnecessary, but it depends on the type of mini-game and whether it pops up right in the middle of the story! Some are genuinely tedious, while others are actually fun. So, I guess I'm kind of neutral about them? I don't know... I hold a "negative" opinion about them, yet at the same time, I also have a positive one.

Sometimes they're necessary to take a break from reading and process what's happened, but it's annoying having to play them just to progress in the story without the option to skip. It would be better if there were a skip option so the player could decide whether or not to play them! After all, it's a drag having to replay the same mini-games on every route just to advance the story >again<. It makes the whole experience exhausting and sooooo boring.

Mini-games are fine to me. I think they are interesting. But if it's too much, it will become annoying. I think one or two mini games in a otome is enough.

If it's interesting and not too hard, it's good and sometimes I will keep a save location to play it, for example, card battle lol. Jackjanne's music battle it's OK for the easy mode but it gets too hard when level goes up. Some other mini games might be a bit boring but it's just a bonus part not in the main route I'm fine with it.

I actually really like minigames! Reading text for too long can get a bit tiring, so having them mixed in gives me a better sense of engagement. I'm especially a huge fan of puzzle-based minigames—they give me a lot more motivation to keep playing. If a visual novel is just pure text and the story gets too long, I sometimes get bored and end up skipping through it.However, if there are too many minigames, it can feel like putting the cart before the horse. I particularly dislike it when games force you to grind minigames just to hit a certain affection level before unlocking the next chapter. It completely ruins the pacing and momentum of the story.

I still care more about the story, since after all it's a text based game. Mini games are just side dishes. Unless they're mini games that enhance interactivity, are closely tied to the plot, and don't feel repetitive or boring, I'd rather just open another type of game to play instead.

I don't care much for most otome mini-games. I play these games mainly for the romantic storylines and character interactions. Forced repetitive minigames break the smooth narrative flow, and I'd rather spend more time on heartfelt conversations instead.🤔

I enjoy mini-games when they're fun and optional because after reading for a long time, it's nice to take a little break. But if they're required, repetitive, or have too much impact on route endings, I'd rather skip them... After all, the story and characters are what I play otome games for.

Adds extra flavour the game. Honestly like these type of features. For example, online server based visual games like TOT, or Light and Night incorporate so many little games and it helps with long runs, keeps the game going even after a really long time.
