This isn't entirely what happened. Nicovideo actually suffered a ransomware attack from russian hackers back in 2024 and that shut down the site for a few months, exacerbated by Japan's lack of security knowledge. This resulted in many videos being lost. Additionally, due to foreign pressures from card processors, Japan decided to hide many videos if you are based overseas. You'll find that many videos are simply hidden if they contain sensitive content and you do not have a VPN with an exit node in Japan

Last time I was on there a month or so ago, I saw most of the oldies I remember. I think, like another user said, you just need to use a VPN for a JP IP, I dont use niconico without it nowadays. They restrict anything past a certain content rating (R-15?) to JP only afaik. I might be able to help find some if you remember what you are looking for.

I watch both the r18 and the "family friendly" version at same time. I like to watch the difference between the 2 version for personal preference.

I haven't found a fixed version of that video, if he released a fixed one at all. All versions of it on this site are broken. It's specifically the middle part, if you seek past the broken part it plays normally again.
