Parodies are a fun type of comedy, but in dating sims I typically enjoy them more if they're done more for the love of genre, not if they look down on it. Mean-spirited intentions seems to rub away the charm for me.

I feel like my answer would depend on what other genres the otome game is. Maybe I'd prefer slow burn in a more serious setting and dive into romance early on in slice of life scenarios. The pacing of the romance should just try to make sense considering the story its taking place in.

I don't remember what my first otome game could be, but I do know that Amnesia is my first otome game that fits the traditional visual novel model. I think the game's a good introduction to otome games in my experience but it definitely isn't my favorite.

artstyle isn't super important to me so i just see it as a plus when i like the visuals. inconsistent artstyles will throw me out of a story unless the style change is made with purpose, however.
