I can't help myself feeling this way about Nicola and Dante (Piofiore). Nicola is seriously all, "Dante this, Dante that," and I was just sitting there thinking, "Oh my god, do me a favor, grow some guts and go for him already. Everyone would be happier this way."

Have you ever had a pair like that in an otome game? Which LIs had more chemistry with each other than with the heroine, in your opinion?

No, I don't ship LIs.

It's true that some male characters have chemistry, and depending on the person, they might ship them. In my case, I don't, but I still enjoy good interactions between the LIs.

And yes, answering the person above, it's a landmine topic in some communities. Honestly, I would prefer not to make LI ships common outside of what's intended for otome (Though I know some people would call that exaggerated, but hey, that's a whole discussion I won't get into right now)

I don't play otome games, but some characters are impossible not to ship in games and anime in general. Some even seem visually gay. If you don't want them shipped, don't watch or play anything because nobody will pay attention. There are all sorts of ships on the internet... I even think that the ambiguous games that are coming out now should make you choose whether you're male or female to avoid conflicts, or Ideafactory should go back to making BL games again if they want to make such disguised gay games.

If I wanted that, I would just read a romance novel, shoujo manga, or whatever. And if I wanted BL, I would just consume BL media. I think the point of an otome game is romance between the MC and LIs + the perspective of a woman. Not being the third wheel. I'm not of a fan of what garumani did lmao.

I fear it would draw too many parallels to shounen media where people hated female characters (nobara, sakura) for getting in the way of a gay ship since the male characters and their relationships were way more developed than their female characters..

You're right, you totally got the point of my comment 100% . I think I've been misunderstood a lot because of the labels xD I also wouldn't want a female Li in my BL games, so... I feel like if I played otome games, seeing a guy like Li should be labeled as amare, not otome... and yes, I'm in favor of them developing more amare games, by the way.

Just to clarify, although otome games are aimed at women's tastes by definition, anyone can enjoy the story because it's told through the perspective of a female protagonist. It's your choice whether you see the protagonist as her own character or want to self-insert, which, in most cases, would be a woman interested in the LIs. That doesn't change the fact that it's still an otome game.

I've never been particularly interested in BL ships and don't really understand the fixation some people have on them. I don't play otome to ship characters with each other lmao the characters were made to be shipped with the player/heroine.

I have many thoughts about this but I'll hold back because I'm kinda too tired for English rn. The point is: everything should stay where it belongs. This is fiction we're talking about ppl not real life lol!! Unless the plot absolutely required it, there's literally no need for any BL in an otome game. Even if the plot "required" It (I genuinely can't think of any actual otome, not amare, game that would make a respectful story that involved lgbt themes enough that a BL relationship would need to take up screen time away from the relationship between the LI and the player/MC. The shit Virche did is not respectful at all and I don't understand anyone who likes that when it's essentially just the bury your gays trope as a side decoration to the tragedy of the straight main couple...), I think it should be limited to side characters and worldbuilding. I thought when you mean by "visually gay" is a character with some distinguished gay clothing or accessories(?) or something like that. I don't see any on them like..? I think you'd find this kind of thing in otome media too, I'm not even surprised if lots of if yumejoshi are actually into them (not me though)

That one amare game marketed to otome players wherein most of the LI seem to have feelings for eachother (and two of them are explicitly fwb or more) ts felt horrendous lol. When playing otome games, I sometimes see the male protagonist talking and interacting with other male characters, like good partners or close friends. I enjoy reading about their daily lives, even the small details of their interactions. If there's a misunderstanding, I even want to give them a helping hand and help them move forward.

However, I don't need to develop a romantic relationship with them. I play otome games, not BL games.The irreplaceable, deep friendships and bonds are enough.

玩乙女遊戲，偶爾會看到男主角跟其他男角對話、互動，就像好搭檔，或無話不說的朋友。喜歡看他們生活描寫，相處小細節也好。若有誤會，還想積極背後推他們一把，協助前進。
