Dont get me wrong i love visual novels but damn tell me why one of em could be 40hrs worth of time when in reality its probably 30% plot and 70% the characters wondering if square or round lunch boxes are better and the mc yapping in detail on why he cant tie his shoes.
Maybe its cuz i possibly have adhd that i cant focus on such games. I like a writing that tells the plot beautifully, and naturally some details in! Not too short nor too long.
Why must i spend a good god knows how long time reading why the city became the mess it is when they didn't give me a reason yet to care about the game? This isnt history class

I totally get what you mean. Long visual novels aren't necessarily bad, but the pacing can become exhausting when the story spends hours on tiny details that don't really add much to the plot or characters. I also prefer writing that gives enough detail to make the world feel alive without making every simple action feel like a ten-minute lecture. When a VN keeps the story moving while slowly introducing its world and characters, even a 30–40 hour game can feel surprisingly short. For me, it's less about the actual length and more about whether every scene feels like it has a reason to be there.
