I feel the same way, there was this enormous model/tech upgrade spree and it's commendable.. but also feels like 90% of the creators eventually moved on from the erotic side of MMD in order to focus on the raw porn side of it. I don't know how else to explain it, but going back to stuff even from 2016 you can just feel a different kind of soul going into the motions/expressions/concepts.

Koikatsu may have been a big factor in all of this unfortunately.

Sorry to just chime in, but if you mean that there is nearly no creativity whatsoever nowadays with most creators you will be correct, its easier to sell random normal sex scenes than doing anything new and interesting and it shows.

Though, to be fair, doing actually good stuff takes up A LOT of time, so no wonder why the best MMD creators often take a lot of time to upload one single video, while others just stop altogether.

Seems like that Moneko Patreon, Fantia and Discord are gone now.
Iwara is still up and hopefully they leave it up.
Luckily got most of the stuff backed up.
