absolutely, it has to be one of the reasons that an indie game may not be able to afford beautiful art right now and resorts to ai, but that corporation CERTAINLY can. ( ｡ •̀ ᴖ •́ ｡)

Yeah, corpos having that much money and then resorting to using AI because they want to save time and money is really scummy.

And while I understand why there's some indie devs that use gen AI, I would be equally as harsh on them as I am with companies because, other than the other reasons on why I hate gen AI in general, if they're willing to use gen AI they might've used it for other things + it confuses me that they can probably pay up a gen AI service, but not stock photos they can edit or one of those portrait makers. Like there's many indie games that don't have 100% polished art and yet they have their fans despite that.

Basically, I'm less harsh on indie games only if there's no AI usage and even if the art isn't exactly polished and/or beautiful lol

It wouldn't be an issue if the character were actually young, but in school-setting stories, I find it jarring when a character looks excessively young despite clearly being the same age as the others.

oh, 100%. ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ ) i've said many times in other threads, beautiful art won't keep readers if the story is terrible. in fact, there's plenty of 'blob' characters that people go absolutely feral for because they enjoyed the character and its story. shoot, even free assets are becoming even more ample in VN communities.
at the end of the day, it's reading and art is a pleasant addition but isn't needed for me to enjoy.

there's just no justifying a corporation using ai for art when it can and has afforded to pay artists prior.
it's also why i didn't use any indie games as examples as there's a grace that should be given especially to small and starting game developer teams (and lots of single-person ones!) that do not have the manpower and resources like a corporation has access to. =͟͟͞(꒪ᗜ꒪ ‧̣̥̇)

like honey-sempai in ouran as an example? (╭ರ_•́) is it worse if the younger looking character is older than the others? i've never been a fan of that concept a la the 1000 year old dragon really being a loli character design and acts the age she LOOKS than is.
