Tragic or Happy Ends in Otome—Which Team Are You On?

I like both.
Tragic endings leave a lingering sense of sorrow, but they leave a strong impression on you.
Meanwhile, happy endings release dopamine, but that's about it.
 
I prefer tragic endings because stories with a sad tone are more memorable.But in otome games, most tragic endings aren't written out properly.Happy endings are usually the ones that get the most attention.So even though I prefer sad stories, in otome games I prefer happy endings.
 
For sure, happy endings, i can't do bad endings some bad endings leave me with sad moods for awhile so i don't do them but if the game forced me to, i will do them , i seaech for someone who post cgs of bad endings so i can see what it would look like

The world is tragic enough right now.
 
I kinda prefer tragic ones, not gonna lie - most of the happy endings don't have enough depth or are too cheesy for me

although if the characters experience enough and the story is super tough and realistic, a happy ending now and then doesn't sound bad but that's not often the case
 
Though happy endings are fun and cute, tragic endings would always be my guilty pleasure esp if its an ending where MC died like the yearning is just too good. An example of this would be in piofiore; nicola's route where lili dies is just too good. I honestly hope they make more otomes with super tragic ends like virche

I prefer the tragic endings more because I like darker themes more, but I still enjoy the happy endings!
 
I like stories that are overall more tragic or dramatic BUT with a happy true ending. I can't with purely tragic endings T.T
 
Ooh, I don't know! I like them both for different reasons lol. Happy ends are nice because, well, it's nice to see the MC and LI get to be together (especially if it was an angsty game), but at the same time tragic ends can be so beautiful, and make my heart ache (in a good way).
 
As much as I like happy ends, there are times where I feel like the tragic ending fits the story more!

When I'm having a bad day of course I want to read something where everybody's happy but some tragic endings are really well written! At the same time, there are happy ends that don't even seem like happy endings and vice versa.
 
I like tragic endings; I feel they add depth to the story. But whenever I get those kinds of endings, I like to read happy endings to balance my feelings. So I guess I prefer happy endings...
 
Depends. If tragic ending has great lore and written well, im going to choose tragic. For good ending i choose it because they deserve happily ever after 💔
 
I prefer bad endings to good ones. Bad endings really leave a deep impression on people, and some of them are even very tear-jerking, which makes them even more memorable to me
 
I like stories that are tragic from start to finish, the kind that make me cry, but still have a "proper closure" at the end. It doesn't have to be a full happy ending, but more of an ending that feels fair after all the suffering. Like everything finally gets to stop, and that itself becomes a form of peace.
 
Basically, I like happy endings. I don't dislike tragic endings, but they're emotionally draining.
 
I always prefer happy ends. But it's kinda funny that i prefer dark story otome But still i always prefer the happy end anyway! I mean, happy end in dark story full despair is really my thing.
 
Depends on the story theme, but it's actually lovely to see story with dark/tragedy themed gets happy ending! Also tragic story with sad endings are really good, it doesn't have to be happy to be 'good' ending (⁠๑⁠•⁠﹏⁠•⁠)
 
I'm a big baby, so I cannot deal with tragic endings.

Bittersweet is about as tragic as I can go and even then, I'm depressed. (⁠╥⁠﹏⁠╥⁠)

I like dramatic and dark elements throughout the story, but I need my fluffy endings. I want kisses and epilogues of smiles.

I am not a completionist just for that as the bad ends will even taint the good ends for me. (⁠っ⁠˘̩⁠╭⁠╮⁠˘̩⁠)⁠っ

I enjoy both, depending on how well the story is written. That said, I don't think I could fully enjoy an otome game if there were no happy endings at all. I like having at least one ending where the characters can finally find some happiness after everything they went through.

Same here! You literally took the words right out of my mouth! My heart really can't handle tragic endings.<(ToT)>

happy ends for the win! just can't stand sad ends.. i mean they may be memorable, but why do people need to be sad even in fiction, right? personally though it's best if both endings are given, even if they are one of those "if" endings
 
Happy End. The story already had sadness enough for me. I can't handle it anymore.😅
