How do you feel about brother routes?

i kinda like brother routes despite the slight thougths about weirdness of theese situations. but in r18 games, i avoid brother routes because it's just weird and questionable. even if it's between mc and non-blood related brother.

i think it definitely depends... i used to really hate brother routes but if they're done well then they have the absolute potential to become my favourite route :p it's not like i love them but it doesn't exactly deter me from anything nowadays

It really depends. Rather if its blood-related or not, IF the plot does it well it could be on a hear me out list. I've seen a game with terrible plots and a blood-related brother route, that was just awful.

I love the idea of them, but most of the time actual routes with incest fall short of my expectations, whether blood-related or not. I yearn for toxic codependency between family members that doesn't rely on it being seen as forbidden by the characters themselves.

I'm going to take this chance to hate on a trope I constantly see in media with brother LIs. The contempt I have for any brother LI who sleeps with people who look like or remind him of the MC—and then the MC is a beacon of purity who has never even kissed someone... I'll actively root against an LI like that.

Honestly, if the character is hot and the route is executed well, I don't really care about what trope it is (bonus points if the character is voiced by a VA i love). It could be whatever taboo or forbidden trope and i'd still eat it up lmaoo.

I'm pretty neutral on them- it's just that the blood related ones specifically don't really interest me. Apart from that I have fun with any route, regardless of the troupe, as long as it's well written!

Beyond frustrating T_T It's so overdone it feels like I'm playing a game of guessing how the LI will act to hide his affection: pushing MC away, hooking up with others, setting MC up with someone else, or all of the above.

i don't really mind this trope myself and i'm not actively trying to find it in fiction. it just.. happens that i start getting into some characters and later it turns out they're somehow related to each other lol.
after all, if it's fiction and served well, i will read it and probably like it.

Overall I actually really like the big-brother archetype regardless of if they are related or not because I love the trope so much. But if it were say, a big brother who doesn't take care of the MC/protect her and is more hostile towards her or something, that's not the big-brother archetype I like and I would feel less interested in it I guess.

i dont seek it out, but if theres it, i dont mind. also im not a big fan of the blood related and not blood related distinction players often make so they say look im not a moral failure for what i enjoy in fiction(with degrees) or im not as weird you, like a brother IS a brother, blood related or not, if you grew up tgt and see him as a brother.

I have no preferences over it. If it is there and I like the plot, character, I will play. Pseudo or actual siblings does not matter to me. They are a bunch of characters on a game screen.

It is understandable that there are people who dislike them. Personal preferences differ. But the people who constantly whine about it and insult others are annoying.

I enjoy taboo romance as long as it's not underage stuff. Incest in fiction doesn't bother me at all but I believe I really enjoy the dynamic of childhood romance tropes so I think it's mixed with this.

I LOVE taboo themes in fiction incl incest especially when it's explored well because it can be such a good source of conflict for the characters!!!! That's why I love the true route with Majima in Chou no Doku. As some already stated too, stepbrother doesn't hit so hard for me because if they're not blood related then what's the point
