Do you play itch.io otome games once they're fully released or while in development too?
Personally, I only play them once I know they're fully released or at least have a few complete endings because I don't like the feeling of an unresolved story, or having to wait, which I'm terrible at, haha.

fully released!! my memory is generally bad, so i only remember things better if the game is done

I used to play while they were being developed, but most of the stuff that I played never got completed, which is very disappointing, so now I only play fully released games

I try to play in full release, but sometimes i get too attached to demos intros 😭. It's better for your heart to wait for the games to be finished there. To play on a somewhat finished game (that you trust the development) or a full release, because there are many authors that leave only a demo and then disappear ಥ‿ಥ.

Same. I prefer full game or at least 1 ending and gameplay more than 5 minutes. :) I rarely play demo ver & not very patient. I'm also afraid of losing interest. At first I very excited about demo version and then wait...wait.......wait......WAI T.T and then Full game relasad. And sadly i dont want play it anymore......

waiting might be the right call but curiosity wins sometimes... :sowwy: maybe life got in the way or devs lost interest but it's still sad seeing smth with unrealized potential that once caught your interest being discontinued. i have a few demos i'm waiting on rn, i hope i'll still want to play them once they get released lol

Fully released is great but there are times where I want something short and fresher so I end up downloading demos. They're fun and really well written so that keeps me going and excited for a full release but at the same time, finding out the dev dropped a game I was looking forward to shatters my heart. :lapi_sad:

Usually full release but for some I can't wait (I caved in for both obscura and alaris)

I love full releases, but playing pre-releases are fun to play, since they're usually shorter so I can have a quicker experience. I also like playing different versions of some games as they evolve to see the different development stages. I'd recommend doing that for one game you're interested in, it makes you see some interesting parts of the development as time goes on.

I usually wait for the full release, but I sometimes get curious and play the prerelease demo to check it out and see if I'd like it. If I like the demo, then I'll follow the developer for updates.

Same here. I've got so traumatized that I apply it to all kinds of games.

Personally I do not mind games that are in development, I think it is quite interesting to see the idea and potential of early game versions. I'm willing to try them if I get curious. They can be fun to take a break between longer games.

But there is a difference from trying for free and paying. I rarely pay for incomplete games, unless the product really, really captures me or there is some other special feeling I have attached to it.

These days I still prioritize complete games because I have limited free time. There are also too many demos from game jams and other events, when I look at the list of new demos I might get overwhelmed and not pick anything.

Fully released is my preference but in-development is fine.
Sadly, most ones that I'm interested trend to be slowly developed or unfinished.
And my patient is very short so I end up playing in-development most of times.

Same here!, there are some I still play whilst being developed but it usually when I can see the author is active and update the game with new chapters.

There's too many that start something off for it to just stop and disappear. 😭

Unfortunately, many Itch.io games only exist on paper, which made me VERY wary of chapter/day-based games (Yes, Your Boyfriend, I'm looking at you). I always test them, rarely picking them up again to play until the complete content is released; this makes me have lower expectations and, most importantly, less frustrated.

fully released. ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ there's a lot of otome games on itch that will simply never happen and I don't like getting my hopes up...

I try to stick to full releases but I'll play in development games if the concept really interests me. Though I try to temper my expectations since only a small handful of the ones I've played ever end up getting a full release.

Preferably fully released but sometimes i get impatient and play the early pre release ones.

i like supporting indie devs and giving them motivation, so demos are just fine for me

I used to play them while in development, but I've had my few share of disappointments with games that were never fully released, so I'll stick with games full developed from now on
