there are lots of good ones! so this might be long.

for pc: i really enjoyed 7'scarlet, cinderella phenomenon (i think the first installment is completely free), bustafellows (the pc port isn't the greatest but i enjoyed it regardless), psychedelica of the black butterfly, psychedelica of the ashen hawk, nightshade, amnesia: memories, taisho x alice, and our life: beginning and always.

as for switch i really recommend collar x malice, cafe enchante, jack jeanne, sympathy kiss, birushana: rising flower of genpei, and cupid parasite!

these are all varying in genres from fantasy, darker themes, mystery to slice of life. so you can pick up from a slower pace or more familiar themes like slice of life (our life: beginning and always is a great place to start) or straight to more intriguing plots like cinderella phenomenon, jack jeanne or cupid parasite.

i hope this isn't too overwhelming of a list. i hope you'll find something you'll like!

I second these! Specially Jack Jeanne is like my favourite Otome game, but it is true that if you are not used to visual novels, the lenght can be overwhelming as a starter. So far talking with friends, titles like collar x malice, Bustafellows and Cupid Parasite are quite beginner friendly and very enjoyable, mostly with a standard otome game gameplay structure.

As for other titles that haven't been mentioned, I'd say Ayakashi Gohan for PC and Radiant Tale for Switch are also good options. Both of them have their drama, but overall they have a happy vibe.

For angst and dark plot, Virche is very recommended (and still waiting for Over Requiemz localization to be released; I haven't played it yet but looks like very interesting and dark too).

I wish I could erase my memory and play games for the first time again 😭
You should definitely try Hakuouki and
Code: Realize (no dark vibes).
