not really watching any new series right now, exams coming up, but only just finished Angel Beats a week ago, and loved it.

Cartoons are much more kid-oriented, while anime doesn't have a specific focus on age groups. The animation styles are also quite different, with most cartoons being without a deep underlying theme, mostly consisting of many short stories about a set of characters.
