Why is Anime Censored...

..and some not? I know Japan has laws for live action porn that insist genitals be censored. Does this extend to animation, too? Why does some anime feature uncensored genitals or sexual action?

Let see... Yes... Some anime got censored... Those are censored could be cuz it is show prime time when children is watching it... Some is censored cuz it too gory.... Some censored panties shot/etc cuz of sexual content and they may think that it might be too much for the children to handle it... I don't know... Uncensored one are shown late at night... I think....

Now this one is Hentai aka Anime Porn...... All of them got censored genitals... The one that are uncensored are all dual language... It got English and Japanese voice.... These are adaption from Hmanga/Hgames....

Time slot probably has a bit to do with it (it is the same in America/Canada too). Also if you are picking up shows from places like here, the TV version will be censored and the BD version normally without censors.

Because of laws I suppose? Sometimes I find that censorship adds even more appeal at times. It's probably just me.

I see so, broadcast anime has to censored if it is too explicit, but retail versions do not? Hentai has to be censored regardless of broadcast or release, except if it it is for foreign markets? Does that mean you can't buy uncensored hentai in Japan?

De censoring usually happens if the US decides to get a license on any given hentai. Problem is by then the animation quality is old and you can't even fap to it anymore. :<

To address some misconceptions:
1. Uncensored material can air on television, but it usually only happens on premium channels. They want you to either buy access to that or the blurays and the beams of doom are a way to convince people to spend money.
2. All genitals are censored in Japan thanks to Article 175 of the Criminal Code. The article itself is pretty open to interpretation (covering "indecent" material). Some politicians have called for applying it far broader to affect all hentai and even ecchi anime/manga/visual novels, but so far that hasn't happened.
3. Most of the uncensoring work is actually done for the French market. That's why you'll see uncensored hentai with only a Japanese dub track from time to time.

I take it all censoring is done post-production? Meaning a uncensored version exists of all hentai. Or do the artists not even bother rendering the explicit parts knowing it will be censored anyway?

All hentai is uncensored when it drawn or in production..... When it goes to the editor that where they added mosaic and stuff.... The artists does drawn it explicit... Just that before it hit the market it censored....

I hated when they changed blood into white glowing liquid in a TV series. I don't know if they still use that form of censorship for TV broadcast anime but I saw it in a game a few years ago. It looks so ridiculous and depending on where the blood is splattering sometimes indecent.
