[Your opinion on diabolik lovers]

The main problem is people only watch anime, and say whatever they want without bothering research the original material (which is CDs, not game, but I think go for the game is good too, better than only watch the badly produced anime).

And DL is definitely not the easy title to grab, it's not for everyone (despite its popularity, so I can understand where the controversy comes from). But I think if you want to try something new, it can provide really unique experience you can't find anywhere in other otome CDs/games. The excitement when overcoming all the hardships to romance part mixing with the faint uneasy feelings, realize that technically Yui was heavily manipulating and she has severe Stockholm syndrome, is too good, at least to me.

The key point here is knowing whether you can tolerate the title or not, the first time playing HDB (iirc) I rage quit and only watch the sweet scenes on youtube lmao and I was really shocked with the contrast between them.

I played HDB 100%. Ultimately, i'm not really into that sort of hardcore abuse, but its for the kind of person who is, right? I've been in actual abusive relationships and I didn't mind the game, so I guess it's a personal preference thing.

None of the LIs really clicked with me, but Kanato is cute and moe, so he gets a pass.
Kanato is my fav too, he can sweet if you get a good ending!
Its not like i enjoy being told to do this and that in the game, if only yui learned to cuss ✨

Haha I think the same thing. It's already in the title that they're diabolical, there's no way to expect gentle love interests or green flags in something that's literally labeling what the guys are. I find it quite contradictory and totally surprising that I blatantly like this game since I'm not that into red flag love interests. I think the aspect of trying to win over questionable characters with terrible personalities that this game proposes, in contrast to otome games with gentler love interests, is what ends up attracting me. As it's written in the game's own status menu, it's basically a challenge to see how much we can endure their wickedness "how much you can handle his heart," Judging by the number of bad endings I've already gotten in this game, I don't handle their hearts very well XD. This game isn't for everyone, so I think even if it weren't for the anime, the game itself would already be poorly regarded. I personally enjoy the game and I know that them mistreating Yui is part of the game and the mechanics of masochism and sadomasochism, so it's tolerable. But I think that's limited to the protagonist; if it goes beyond that to something like animal abuse (yes, my eternal beef with Ruki Mukami, sorry if I mention him frequently) I don't like it at all ಠ_ಠ

I struggled with the game because I just couldn't warm up to the heroine. I don't know where this comes from in the vampire genre, but all the heroines have that "Frodo puppy-dog look" that makes me want to punch the screen. 🙈

like it was pointed before, i think it works way better as a CD series than as a game!! it's not really comparable to other rejet titles like moshikami, black wolves saga, kgk etc which focus way more on a story than individual scenarios, i cant really put it into words well haha

You need to watch this if you haven't already.
This is Seiyuu Tomokazu Sugita-san's Opinion about Diabolik Lovers.

I had high expectations of this series. I played the first game psv game by the way. I think this game was made for seiyuu fanatics than regular otome fans. The anime however is hilarious and the game art is very good.

Although this game is very popular, I don't really like it. There aren't any characters in it who catch my eye, and there are even many things the male lead does that I really dislike.

I played More blood recently and really enjoyed it, but it's definitely not a franchise for everyone. I know a lot of people hate it for its main character for her weak attitude, but I never found myself ever actively disliking her. I mean, who would choose to stay with abusive vampires? If she didn't we wouldn't have a game to play. XD Then again it's all personal preference if people don't like that kind of MC. Personally I never found it to bother me at all.

The anime might have been a lot of peoples first exposure to the series so that could affect how others view it definitely. I played the games first before seeing the anime and so I have a different experience to it compared to others who grew up on the series. I haven't seen the anime yet as I've only just gotten into the series this year, but from clips I've heard its not the best adaptation.

I never understood the hate for it, its just got loots of fanservice in it, 😭 It's got a good aesthetic as well as really great music too, I think that can be undermined when people are just talking about how much they dislike the main character. ^^ Also kanato was definitely my fav as well!
