Your method/motivation to finish your ever growing backlog games?

Did you ever burn out playing certain game because it's boring/dragging or your favorite LI locked behind other routes that ending you to just on-hold it and starting new game instead? It happens to me (a lot) and it's frustrated me. As for me recently i set up the wallpaper of the backlog game as my phone screen wallpaper in order to remind me that i need to finish them rather than starting new title lol. Is there any way/method/motivation you did or planning to do to finish your backlog games?

For me I tend to save my favorite for the last on purpose since it's what provides the motivation for me to go through the rest of the game asap! Games that end up on my backlog tend to be the ones I've already experienced the highs of so I usually want to avoid that

Definitely stop playing for a little bit and take a breath. Most of the time, I'm captivated by LIs whose routes are locked behind others or recommended to be played last. If I encounter this type, I use the skip button for the routes I'm not fond of (though that's really a rare case). But of course, not that much, just enough to understand the gist of the route.

For me, it's important to take it easy rather than growing to hate the otome game.

I also like to save my favorite route for last.
Just to hear my favorite voice actor, I'll push through all the other routes — and finally meet that character at the end.

I also look up reviews and comments about the route I'm currently playing. It makes me even more excited for what's coming.

And fanart — that's the best part.

I push through it until I finish the route I'm doing, and then I take a break, most of the times playing non otome games. I also look for community content to motivate myself, looking at pretty art always helps.

It depends if you enjoy the game.. I don't have any problems with backlogs because I only install 1 or 2 games and won't download anything unless I finish or drop it. If however you don't have time to keep up just read/play 1 hr. per day

I don't think of a backlog as games I have to finish. It's games I can play for fun. If it's not fun anymore I drop it.

Or if the LI I want to play is locked I just skip through until I get to him.

There are so many unavoidable parts of life that are not fun. Why force yourself to play something not fun when you finally have some free time? That's just my feelings on it.

Typically if a game is really starting to bore me I'll just start a new title anyways and I'll try to play both at once ╮⁠(⁠╯⁠_⁠╰⁠)⁠╭ But most of the time that fails and I end up having one game abandoned for a while, but I do like to take a break and come back maybe a couple months later and give it another try. ^^

I also do have a list of unfinished games that helps me not forget about any unless I completely just decide to drop the game ^^

Thats the good part, I dont have one. I raw dog every game with a million unfinished ones in the background bc I cant be assed after completing my favourite LIs' routes

I don't really have a method lol. My backlog is huge and I doubt I'll be finishing it anytime soon especially since I haven't even played anything in a while. I also read pretty slowly, so that definitely doesn't help and I don't really care that much about clearing it either tbh. There are just so many games to choose from, so I usually just play whatever I'm in the mood for whenever I feel like it.

I tend to prioritize games with voice actors I love. If there's a character or love interest who really catches my attention, I'll make their route my goal. Once I start thinking, 'I need to see this character's route!' it gives me enough motivation to keep playing and finally finish the game.

Every time I finish a route I get to check it off a list and I get a bit of dopamine lol. Nothing motivates me more than crossing something off a list.

I'm the exact same way—I get distracted by new games constantly and play very on-and-off! My 'method' is simply not forcing it. If I get bored or burnt out, I take a break and play other things, then come back later when I'm in the mood. Gaming shouldn't feel like a chore, so I just take my time.

My vndb is enough of a motivation (´-ω-`) I like having everything nicely rated and sorted, so I try to keep my stalled games to a minimum and always finish what I've started before getting into a different game. With the exception of games I've been really excited about, since I can speedrun them from start to finish without any breaks thanks to that feeling lol

I struggle with it so much. Like, I have Taishou Mebiusline,Galtia and Lamento sitting on my pc for like, a decade, literally, and I still pick up new games over them T_T I think it's probably because I initially picked them up not because something about them caught my attention, but because they were popular back then, so now I have no motivation to play them.

I do nothing honestly I just randomly get into the mood to finish something(or not). Idk I think forcing yourself to play a game is a bit silly, if there's no fun to be gained then what's the point.
