I'm kinda picky, so I usually check out some well-known reviewers before I dive into a game. My fav is 'Noodles of Justice' on YouTube, a Vietnamese reviewer. Unfortunately, she hasnt updated in a while D: Who's your favorite so far? I prefer the strict ones so I can lower my expectations xD

I'm not a fan of her styles, but we have very different tastes.

Mostly I follow a few japanese reviewers, i'll bring up some lists.
She's the only one I know who reviews otome games. I also find the way she talks about the love interests funny!

I also check Otome Kitten's reviews since she's played almost every localized title on the Switch and is still active. Our preferences are a bit different though so I keep that in mind. I don't read reviews from bloggers much anymore because I try to experience them firsthand before forming an opinion, and then read reviews to feel validated (or not. Haven't found a reviewer who has similar taste yet...), so I appreciate that her reviews are generally spoiler-free

But before Otome Kitten, I used to read Breadmasterlee's reviews of unlocalized otome games back when she still played otome games. She's much more critical and has less tolerance for tired tropes than I do, but I find her commentary entertaining. I also like Tehvidya despite not having an otome game focused blog. She's similarly jaded and mostly writes about JRPGs and gacha games, but she has written reviews for otome stat-raisers like TMGS and other unlocalized ones like Kiniro no Corda and Haruka

I usually read reviews after I played, to see if other pople think about game differently, but don't have favourite reviewers. Before playing I only look at raitings and official site's screenshots, in fear of spoiling anything

I used to love reading Breadmasterlee's reviews! She was hilarious, and took no crap. I used to read her reviews even for games I couldn't play, because I thought it was so funny.

I used to follow a blog called Ikemen Heaven, created by two Spanish girls, and naturally it was in Spanish, which is my native language, but they've been inactive since 2019. I remember their reviews were very funny, and every time they reviewed a UtaPri game, they complained about the protagonist's flat personality.

I don't read reviews much before playing, because a lot of them spoils the important parts of the game. I also avoid reading discussions whenever possible.

Like others here, Breadmasterlee is my recommended reviewer. I read her reviews after playing the games myself. Although my opinions might not always align with her, I can feel she actually takes time experiencing the games and has some standards.
From what I know, she buys most of her own stuff (as in they're not "sponsored" by companies or anything) which is a big plus for me, that means she has less reasons to sugarcoat the bad aspects. Of course she's slower than the sponsored blogs that release reviews pretty much right after the game comes out.

I sometimes read yuscake's reviews as well. Her tone is simple and leans more into the informative, serious side. She doesn't post very often.

There's Blerdy Otome who also writes reviews (English games only) but tbh I only browse her blog like a "News" site to see if I miss any new games. Same for Otome Kitten. They seem to do it as a job (? cmiiw) so I bump their reliability down a bit.

Nobody mentioned Uguu Cage of Love yet.

Her reviews can be wordy but her sense of humor makes the reading process enjoyable. I like her memes in the reviews and she writes about some niche Japanese games that can rarely be found on other blogs. However she release a review once in a blue moon. For latest games, if you want to check to decide whether to purchase, then she is not the best choice, she also puts lots of spoilers inside so you might ruin your game experience if you read before playing.

Side note: She also wrote the explanation post for otome vs joseimuke genre. Her post is my go-to whenever I need to enlighten someone about the differences in various media for female audience. I would say the post is popular too because it has a high position in the results when I search for "otome vs joseimuke". That was how I found her blog at the beginning.

4shiki reviews are hilarious, too bad he is not doing reviews anymore. I think breadmasterlee's reviews are the best because she's focusing on the important stuff of the game and while you read her reviews you feel content like you played the game yourself, but I never liked how overcritical she was about the female MCs, and I felt that she made people feel bad for liking things that she didn't like, like BL, incest routes, self-inserting… I believe that people don't know this, but when she reviewed Ozmafia, she talked about a moron that uploaded on an open forum the game, meaning Ataraxia here on anime-sharing and that time the otome section wasn't locked, and then Ataraxia received rude and insulting messages. Ataraxia was a beloved member here because she was the only member that uploaded otome games and without her this forum would be very different. I can't take a side on this, but I felt sorry for Ataraxia whether she was right or wrong.

I like BreadMasterLee's reviews, and also Otome Hitorigoto's. I mainly read the reviews of the Japanese games I play, just in case I missed something due to the language barrier. Sometimes I read Otome Kitten's reviews, but unfortunately, I've started to assume that if there's a game she really likes, I probably won't like it. I think our tastes are completely different.
