Which routes were you excited for but ended up completely disappointing you?

I was extremely excited for Lucas's route in virche. I really liked his design it's probably my favourite in the game (which says a lot because I absolutely LOVE Scien and everybody else's designs as well) . But I just didn't like the writing nor the general plot and I especially did not like the ending. The entire route just felt pretty stupid to me, I booted up his route in the fandisc hoping for it to get better and I noped out like 10 minutes in LOL.

I really enjoy playing Hakuoki, and this game is also one of my favorite games. My most anticipated and favorite character is the main villain Chikage Kazama in the game, but as I played it, there were very few emotional scenes. I was hoping to fantasize about thrilling love stories, but maybe it didn't meet my expectations. The love plot is very limited, but I have to admit that Hakuoki is a very fun and classic game.

I was so excited to play Rikus route in OS and turn that classist ignorant bigot into a remorseful and grovelling gentleman. I was FEENING for a well written satisfying redemption arc. I was so ready for Olympia to fully call him out on his bullshit and rip him a new one... unfortunately she folded immediately because awww he taught her how to dance and is nice to her pet mouse fuck the people suffering in Yomi though!

Awayuki - Itehari.
I can only see him as a groomer.
He creeped me out.

Well, Yashiro from Illusion of Itehari. The biggest turn off for me.

Mashiro's route from Folie Fatale . . . Maybe it's because of the route length limitations, but all of his problems felt underexplored, so I could never really get particularly attached to him outside of thinking "He's cute, at least".

He does get more scenes in /other routes/, but when I'm playing for another character, it's really annoying to see another LI get fanservice in a route thats already pressed for time / cgs .

Steam Prison Sachsen route. I was so excited when I found out about Beyond the Steam. But ended up disappointed. Short, another boring route and lack of romance. Second was Fin. I though his route will my favorite....

For me, it was Hana Awase Iroha-hen.

Since it was the final game in the series, I had really high expectations, so I ended up pretty disappointed.

The story was overloaded with information, and I had a hard time following it.

Most of all, I was bummed that there were no bad endings for the other characters, which was one of the things I loved most about the Hana Awase series

Him, the Smile & bloom Hokuto route... He seemed like a character I would like on paper (the reliable older brother type) but the execution was not it. He was so frustratingly stupid and wishy-washy.

Hijikata's route in Hakuouki. He was kinda pushed as the main guy and so I went into the route expecting it to be well written and interesting, but ended up kinda disappointed especially compared to the other ones. This route just kinda felt like a road trip and I felt that connection between Hijikata and Chizuru was really lacking.

I really want to play Virche Evermore because of Lucas, but your comment and some others I've seen here on Animesharing make me rethink and keep postponing starting the game because I don't want to be disappointed by a character with such a beautiful design

As for the route, I can only think of Hideo from Chou no Doku! His route isn't bad, but I expected more... I think I put too much expectation on his route because of his design, and because he wears glasses and has that "cold" and "indifferent" air, and that ended up frustrating me a little in the end, because he's too softly, cute and gentle

I felt like the romance between the main characters still had so much more potential to explore, but instead the writer chose to end the route with the couple reuniting on a beach at sunset, running into each other's arms in a really cheesy scene... and then it just ends. :) It felt like the relationship was only just getting started, so the ending came across as rushed and left me wanting a lot more. :)

When playing Virche Evermore, I was really excited for the last LI but the ending left me wanting more.

I thought the route would branch out or something, but I was dissappinted that the main LI was Adolphe and not Ankou. Why show us such a tragic and beautiful man if we cant get a proper romance ending QAQ (answer: to svae content for the fandisk)

Mahoutsukai/Wizard in Taisho x Alice.

He was so funny and quirky in other routes! And so grumpy and gloomy in his route. I get why it was the way in was in the context of the wider plot but that doesn't mean I liked it!

Toa's route in 7'Scarlet. He was my favorite LI in the game, but his route is VERY lackluster, and I really disliked it's ending. A shame, honestly.

Very recent but Eugene from Sins of kaleido, it was super uncomfortable to me loved tilkett and orsem though
