I remember playing Saint-Germain's route in Code: Realize and thinking it would be a fairly normal romance route.
I was completely wrong.
By the end, I felt emotionally drained and needed a break before starting another route. The mixture of love, sacrifice, and tragedy hit me much harder than I expected.
Has an otome route ever affected you like that?
I'd love to hear everyone's experiences

Virche left such a lasting impression on me that I still haven't fully recovered; I think it's the reason I'm not really enjoying Temirana—I started it right after Virche.

I've heard so many people say that about Virche hopefully you'll be able to enjoy Temirana more once you've had some time to recover from the emotional damage

definitely yves route in virche evermore 😭 i don't think i've ever been emotionally destroyed by an otome route quite like that one

Kairi from Un:Birthday Song and Noa from Blackish House 😭
I've seen people's thoughts about Noa's route, but I never could've expected what actually happened in the bad endings, and Kairi's route just kind of hit home for me.
10/10 for almost every honeybee game if you wish to cry your eyes out, with honorable mentions for Haruma, also from Blackish House, and Asagi from Ayakashi Gohan

I think it's a good time to talk about the route that hurt me when I was younger! Nagi's route. There were routes that were sadder, but this one really hurt me when I was younger D,x

kai's route in jackjeanne was just not good for my soul lol i dont know how to describe it every single affection event he has in the common route and then the events of his actual route are just too good and cover loneliness in a way that i felt deeply. i also really love his relationship with kisa just everything about it gets to me but i also adore it so much that i replay it very often.

i will also mention tsuzuri from clubsui, while he isnt my favourite from the game i definitely cried the most during both of the possible paths in his route - im not sure how else to phrase besides it being a very human experience !!!

i want to nominate ayakashi gohan as a whole too because every route in it deserves the title i genuinely dont think any game has touched me and made me feel as much ayagohan has it's too good !!!! such a warm and loving experience

Neji from Jack Jeanne struck me quite a bit, but only because I had experienced something similar... I can't say i've ever cried at an otome route, but Orsem's route from Sins of Kaleido reminded me quite a bit of another game that /did/ make me cry, so I'll probably say him.

I remember Asagi's route from Ayakashi gohan hit hard. His route was the one I saved for last and oh my god it was so worth it. I stayed up till 4am to finish the game and I ended up crying for at least an hour after finishing his route. The piles of tissues of my bed was something. Now every time I hear Ishida Akira's voice I remember Asagi.

Another route (or rather part of the route) that emotionally destroyed me was Mozu's route in Bustafellows. Specifically the
part where we find his sister's remains
. Yeah, I cried like crazy there.

Lucas's route in Virche Evermore emotionally destroyed me. It was so hard to get through, and seeing Nadia near the end was especially shocking.

The Ootsuki Shinobu route in Yoshiwara Higanbana.
The whole route felt way too real — it was honestly hard to get through. All those different endings just about broke me.
