Hey everyone!
Have you guys ever played an otome game that you really hoped you would like but couldn't finish the prologue or a route because you didn't like it or for whatever reason? I haven't played many otome games to have this experience, but there must be many people on this site who have. I'm curious to know if this has ever happened to you or not?:alice_hide:

variable barricade; I was following a route order guide. The first being Nayuta Yagami; he fully killed the game for me I might pick it back up when I clear my backlog. But it was a very off putting ending so I probably will just leave it where it is.

Actually, there are quite a few games like that. The games I can't get into usually have storylines that make me feel sleepy and easy to get distracted. At first, I force myself to complete every route, but eventually it becomes too torturous, and the more I play, the longer time feels. In the end, I just give up struggling. I can only say that these kinds of games are not within my range of preferences.

There are some vns I can't force myself to go back 😖. One of them is 'Steam Prison'. I feel so bad about dropping it completely ಥ‿ಥ. I did enjoy the MC, but I can't stand the guys or the story plot (i dunno if i was 'too young' to understand it, but i didn't feel encouraged to keep playing it). And the only LI i was interested... wasn't even a route 💔 (yes! I'm looking at you Sachsen!!! 😭😭😭). I can't go back...even if there's a second game (that didn't even gave it justice to Sachsen as a LI 😭😭😭).

Another one is 'Saya no Uta' not because i didn't like the story or the characters. Further from that, is because i played it when i was on my early teenage years and it made a really big impact in how i see the world from then and forward. I finished only one ending (a bad ending) and i couldn't play it more...too dark, gave me nightmares when i was young 🙃. No, no, no. I've come acquainted with darker games from then on, but i can't make myself go back to replay this one. I watched all the endings on YT, because i couldn't read any more on my own. Good game, but i wish i haven't played it so young 🙃

Nil Admirari no Tenbin 😣 I saw a lot of good reviews about the game, and maybe I set my expectations a bit too high, and that's why I didn't like it. I wasn't impressed by the MC, the plot, or the LIs at all. I still hope that I can give it a second chance someday, but it's unlikely to happen anytime soon

I wish I had the strength not to finish a game; once I start, I end up playing the whole thing, all the possible routes. Jack Jeanne was one of those cases for me. I loved the music, I really liked the characters, but the story... (I won't mention the artist; it wasn't my best visual choice, but after playing for so long you get used to it). Kai, Suzu, and Yonaga were my favorite routes, but while playing, I felt it was more a story of friendship and dreams than a romance? (Suzu is the only one with a CG kiss). Kisa being a woman isn't really a 'problem' in the game, even though I didn't particularly enjoy the story, but I played it completely. I'm quite pessimistic; sometimes, as the game progresses or because of another character, I like the game more. But I admit, it was lovely to see Neji in his final route with Kisa, him proposing to her was the most adorable part.

I think we've finally found our true Completionist😆
thanks for the review, i wasn't already a fan of it's art style but after hearing there's only one kissing CG??? in the whole game really killed what little motivation i had.
i don't think i'll ever play this game lol.

Unfortunately it's Cupid Parasite. I really liked the characters, visuals and music but it was too long and boring for me :miku_dejected:

Genso Managae. Art looks pretty but i fall in sleep in prologue :( Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly . I like art , plot seems interesting + mini games. But i really dislike flowchart. I forse myself play extra stories and always drop game. I tried 3 times already ....

Bustafellows 2. It's the first game that I actually dropped and don't feel like finishing which is a shame because the first one was fun

I never drop full games, and I get even endings I dislike while playing (only drop mobile ones, like Ikemen series) but 7'scarlet, VariBari and Dialovers were a slog to get through. 7'scarlet and VariBari both pick up near the end, but Dialover took me months; I disliked the chapter selection structure and the game just wasn't for me.

Funnily enough, I enjoyed More, Blood!

Jack jeanne, the game is so boring for me and i never know when i will finish the game, probably the game is just not my taste i think.
The romance happens in only the last 20% of the game, but the music is superb. I really enjoyed it.

Personally the art for me was amazing and the romance in most routes was really well thought out -- The Suzu route in particular is quite funny and they both grow together. There may not be as many kissing CGS but, there are a -lot- of artistically drawn cgs in a beautiful painterly style. Once you are in a character route in the last section of the game the romance ramps up and relationships develop.

Variable Barricade.
I thought it would be a fun romcom (and it was... just only in the common route). Things got real messy and frustrating once you started each LI's route.

I dropped the game after finishing Ichiya and Shion. The way they handled Ichiya's story especially left a bad taste in my mouth.

The only game i've truly DROPPED has been Dandelion.
Was it because of the stat-raising? Personally I thought that the stat raising in Dandelion was super tedious and unrewarding...

I dropped Seduce Me 2: The Demon War because I couldn't get over the art style change, and the fact that all of the brothers that weren't chosen were suddenly had wives/fiancees out of nowhere

I often see people recommending Norn9 on social media, but after playing it myself, I found it a bit boring. Maybe it's because I don't really like this kind of theme; it's not to my taste.

Sweet Fuse- played it waaaay back in 2015 and cleared a single route before I got distracted by other games. Technically I haven't dropped it and have been meaning to go back to it eventually bc it was a pretty fun read but I just keep getting sidetracked by other games ^^;;
