I like listening to Otome CDs, even though 18+ Otome CDs are more exciting, haha. But sometimes I want to listen to something more relaxing, though it's hard to find titles I really like. I'm trying to look for many more interesting audio dramas.
That sounds nice! Lately, I've actually been thinking that maybe I don't need something so intense all the time either, haha, so I've started listening to more all-ages works. One of the reasons is that I made a friend who really likes all-ages CDs.
It's nice to have lots of different options so you can listen to whatever fits your mood at the time.
I've found some works that I really enjoy, but I still haven't found one that makes me think, "This is exactly what I've been looking for!" So I want to keep exploring and see what else is out there.

Personally, I prefer 18+ titles, though not solely for the adult content. What I enjoy is the relationship development—seeing how the characters meet, how trust grows, and how everything evolves naturally leading up to that point. Ultimately, when I choose a drama CD, the story is the first thing I look at. If those moments are well-integrated and contribute to the relationship's development, that's a bonus for me.

Listening to whatever you want based on your mood is the best, isn't it!
R18 works are exciting, but if they don't match your tastes, it can be tough, and since your mood at the time also plays a big role, in a way, you need to be somewhat prepared before listening.
I often listen before bed, and since I like content that helps me relax or feel soothed, even in R18 titles, I enjoy parts like ear cleaning or massages.
I wonder if there are a lot of ASMR elements even in recent all-ages situation CDs these days? It's a bit of a shame that there aren't many story-focused ones coming out, so if I want to listen to those, I end up going back to older titles.

Story-focused works are great.
For example, do you have any favorite R18 titles?
I haven't really come across many works with a strong, substantial story, so I'd like to try listening to CDs that actually have proper drama and narrative.

Yeah, I totally get that.
Relaxing, soothing types of works are really nice—I like them a lot too. Just a gentle voice can already be very calming, and when there are extra elements on top of that, it becomes even better.
But I also tend to listen before going to bed, and I often end up falling asleep before I even reach the bonus parts like ear-cleaning tracks (lol).
It feels like ASMR became popular in Japan a few years ago, so I get the impression that influence is still there.
I wonder if it's difficult to create story-focused works. When I'm in the mood for something like that, I also find it a bit hard to choose what to listen to.

In Japan, R18 CDs don't actually exist as a formal category—everything is technically labeled as "recommended for ages 18 and over."
Ah, that's based on something I learned a while ago, so sorry if it's outdated.
If everything is now officially R18, that would make sense. I think that's a better system.

日本ではR18のCDは存在していなくて、実はすべて18歳以上"推奨"なんですよね。昔得た知識なので古かったらすみません。
でももし今はすべてR18になってるなら納得ですね。その方がいいと思います。

Ahhh indeed. Seems it depends on the store now? Some of them seem to ask for ID.
Since selling 18+ manga to minors can result in serious penalties for the people involved, it wouldn't really make sense for adult voice dramas to be completely exempt from similar age restrictions.

今は店舗によって年確が行われるようになってるみたい?ですね
漫画だと未成年への販売は発覚次第罰則が課せられますし(取り下げやらイベ中止やら)
シチュボだけ例外というのも妙な話ではありますよね

Got a little off topic 😆 To answer the original question,

I'm happy with any of them, but if I had to pick just one it'd probably be R15. The main reason is that I'm less likely to recognize any VAs, so I don't get distracted by random thoughts after knowing too much about seiyuu 😭🤣
There was also a time when I mostly listened to AA/R15 doujin voice works featuring VAs I'd never even heard of!

That's true! Even manga has started facing restrictions, so I wonder if things are changing for CDs as well. But I think the regulations have only been introduced in certain regions so far. I haven't been affected by them and am still going about things as usual.

確かに!漫画も規制が入るようになったし、CDも変わってるのかな?
でもまだ規制が入ったのは一部地域のはずです。私は影響なく過ごしています。

Oh, I see! I thought R15 was pretty rare, but maybe there are actually quite a few of them?
By the way, I always thought "R15" was a real name (like a normal personal name), but it's not, right? Or could it mean something else in some cases?
I totally get what you mean about recognizing voice actors being distracting—I've also had a few seiyuu I can't really listen to anymore lol.

Yes! If I had to choose, I'd recommend some of these jobs, hehe. RJ01231385, BJ01328899 or RJ01060103. Personally, I feel that in these works, the situation for those over 18 is balanced with the story of the characters. 🤗

I haven't listened to any of those before. Thank you for the recommendations! I'll start with the one featuring Atsushi Domon.

I listened to RJ01231385 and RJ01060103! Just like you said, both the stories and the intimate scenes were great. Thank you for the recommendations!
If you have any other recommendations, I'd love to check them out too!

I like all of them! I'm more interested in the story than anything else, so as long as the voice acting is good, I'm happy.

That said, I feel like there have been fewer all-ages otome CDs lately, so I'd really love to see more of them😊

99% of the CDs I own are R18 :ROFLMAO:. I guess the main reason is the lack of 18+ otome games being released has led to me seeking out other 18+ otome options. I do occasionally buy R15 and all ages CDs if I like the plot a lot. I think most of them are by Rejet, and the last one I bought was Overnightz. I liked the series but I am not a fan of the random ending system to try to get more sales :cautious:.

That's wonderful! I feel the same way—I'm happy as long as the voice acting is good. The voice actors always do such an amazing job.
I completely agree. I really hope we get more all-ages releases.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it's not only commercial releases—even among doujin works, there are plenty of R18 titles, but not nearly as many all-ages ones.

Wow, that's an amazing library! ✨ Mine is mostly R18 too, although I've been collecting a few more all-ages CDs lately. I'd love to be friends! 😂
I see what you mean. It really does seem like there are far fewer otome games being released these days. Commercial R18 situation CDs have also decreased a lot, but if you include doujin releases, there are still quite a lot coming out.
I've heard a lot about Overnightz too. 😂 At first, when I heard it had a random ending system, I thought it sounded like an interesting idea. But then I realized, "Wait... if I want to hear all the endings, why would they make them random?" 😂 I just can't imagine doing that.

I'm open to any otome game CD as long as the script is engaging enough. It includes works suitable for all ages, featuring hypnotic themes, soothing background sounds, and even therapeutic content like "sleep companionship."
For those 18 and older, aside from the sex scenes, some of the bad endings are quite enjoyable, even unexpected. Character traits like depression, yandere, antisocial personality disorder, and unexpected charm all contribute to the fun.
One-sided yelling, shouting, and violence, along with just sex scenes, would be quite boring.

I know what you mean. I also enjoy both all-ages and R18 works—it really depends on the story and the characters for me.
A strong script and good voice acting can make any genre enjoyable.

Its nice to read the various opinions in the thread. I mostly listen to R-18 CDs so I picked that, though I am able to also enjoy AA and R-15 too. Its just that I haven't listened to as much as I would like to compared to R-18 CDs.

I think with AA especially I tend to put more pressure on the story and expect the character interactions and dialogue to be really good, whereas with R-18 sometimes you can just let the adult content do the carrying lol. I know isn't fair from me but when you only have audio to immerse I really want to listen to a story that hooks me in and gets my imagination running and feelings invested, especially since I also watch a lot of regular anime which can give me an all-ages story with the added visual aspect. So with that high bar I set, its more difficult for me to find AA CDs I really love (though I'm still navigating it and quite new so I'm still very open to trying out new works, even if they end up being a miss). I probably need to pivot into more plot-heavy and serious AA series, maybe my ideal CD is out there somewhere.

Gotta say though, best thing about AA works is the number of mainstream VAs you can come across  So many VAs I love that have voiced characters I like and I never thought I could hear a whole CD of them portraying a specific type of character or being in a specific situations. Its wonderful.

It depends on the situation, but when I want to relax, I prefer all-ages content. That said, I don't mean something completely wholesome—I think it's best when there are slightly sensual touches, such as soft, alluring breaths during an ear-cleaning scene.

I listen to all three categories, but my favorite is all aged cds (preferably otome muke, but regular joisemuke is fine too ).

Otome cds Im usually most in the mood if I miss the characters from a game I played. Unfortunately most of the time I feel like these are very slice-of-life dialogues between the LIs, so it isn't as entertaining to me compared to regular drama cds.

R18 otome cds are great if I am in the mood too, but I usually prefer something plot heavy to keep me entertained while I do chores, and most R18 cds don't fit the bill.

All ages. Never was fun of 18+ otome games. Maybe coz i played a lot bl games/manga before. And now i want just pure love.
