There are a lot of R18 CDs for women uploaded here, so it made me wonder which type people actually listen to more.
Most of the people I've met here seem to prefer all-ages CDs, so I was curious.
Or is it simply because there are fewer all-ages CDs being released?

Maybe it's partly because of my age that I enjoy listening to R-18 content more, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy all-age and R-15 content. It's probably because I feel like the seiyus for all-age and R-15 titles are people I recognize from anime or games, so I feel like I've heard enough of them from those sources. Unlike R-18 titles, which mostly use pseudonyms and I don't even know their real names, which is what makes me intrigued with their works.

Actually, I've noticed that there aren't many titles released in the all-ages category, but looking at Animal Planet as an example (which, as you may know, operates under the name Lamina Planet in the R18 section), they're still able to release all-ages titles. But this is just my thought—maybe seiyuus who can do all-ages work might be busy with other projects like anime or games, or maybe the creator itself thought had enough of otome games combined with drama CDs tokutens.

Ah, I really understand what you mean. Thank you for your comment!
With all-ages content, where voice actors work under their usual public names, I tend to go in with a certain expectation of how they'll perform, so while it's stable and enjoyable, it feels more predictable. On the other hand, when a new pseudonym appears in R-18 works, it's really exciting and makes me look forward to what kind of performance they'll deliver.
I see, that makes sense. I only recently started listening to all-ages content, so I'm not very familiar with it yet. I appreciate you sharing your perspective.
And yes, I understand that popular, well-known voice actors are likely very busy with many projects. Still, as a listener, I do hope creators will always continue to pursue new works and fresh releases.

I probably have more R-18 drama cds than R-15 or all ages. But other than the hot scenes (lol), I love when the drama cd have story.
Thanks for your comment!
I get it. Sometimes I'm in the mood to listen to something that's just purely erotic audio, but most of the time, I tend to rate drama CDs much higher when they have a solid and engaging story.
That said, unfortunately, I don't actually remember many R-18 works that stood out to me for their story. Maybe it's just because I often fall asleep while listening, so I end up hearing them in bits and pieces lol.

True, true! I also wish there'll more all-ages works so that people who are new to the world of drama CDs can start by listening to that content first! Tried to look at DLsite all-age, obey me and A3! released an ASMR CD are good moves www

I also curious with ギャップ日和 series since the cover made by my fav shoujo manga artist 👀

That's true! Unless you really know someone's preferences, all-ages content is definitely easier to recommend.
Oh, yes—that's exactly it! I saw that before and thought, "So that kind of thing is possible too!" I've only listened to the music from that series, so I don't really know much about the characters, but I'm sure fans of the series are happy about it, and it could also help new people get interested in the work. It's a great thing overall.
I've never heard of ギャップ日和 before. I like the illustrations too, and the voice casting is really good as well. It sounds very interesting.

R-18 that stood out for me probably from dusk. It's called 'Kankinkon', that mc drama cd's child (and friend) have their own series too called 'Seitokai' and the grandchild drama cd called 'Rinkan Gakkou' lol it's quite big (there are more characters, like the teacher or their predecessor). This series even get game adaptations.

Their other R-18 games is called Monochrome Wizard and Monochrome Empire are good too. Well, maybe I'm weak when I love the seiyuu lol

Oh, nice! I've also listened to a few Dusk works, and I remember them being really erotic.
I remember thinking Kankinkon had such an intense title, but I never got around to listening to it—your message reminded me of it. I'll give it a try!
That's a surprisingly large-scale series. I wonder if I can still catch up with it now lol.

The R-18 games sound good too! Thanks for telling me about them. I don't really have time for games at the moment, but I'd like to try them if I get the chance.

This one is quite big so take your time~ I even bought Kankinkon artbook because I love the artist so much, can't read it peacefully tho lol

I remember my friend said Kankinkon is too... yandere for her and I agree lol!
Dusk back then probably too yandere or erotic but now I think KZentertainment have that crown instead lol

There are so many titles here, so I imagine most of what I actually listen to ends up being R-18.
But what I really love are stories where the two characters are drawn to each other—ideally with some drama like misunderstandings, arguments, or the appearance of a rival—before finally coming together in an R-18 scene. 😊

Oh wow, you liked it enough to buy the artbook! And it's funny that both of you said it's "too yandere" lol.
That makes me even more excited to listen to both of them. Amazing!
Yeah, I also remember that image of Dusk. And it's also a doujin circle that uses professional voice actors!
Is KZ Entertainment like that too? I might be confusing it with a similar-sounding name, but I remember thinking the quality wasn't great (I think it was a BL CD…?). But that was a long time ago, so maybe things are different now.
I've been away from it for a while, so I'm pretty out of the loop, but hearing it called a "top tier" like that definitely makes me curious.

I completely agree. I love stories like that as well!
It feels like the classic, ultimate gold standard.

I prefer all-ages cds because I don't really like R18 (ie, explicitly sexual) content in general that much. Like I can view it of course, but it's just not my personal preference. Me being aroace might also have something to do with it lmao (not that that necessarily has any relation for others but it personally does for me). I think for audio in particular (vs written works), I am even less of a fan because I just feel... slightly uncomfortable at things like ear licking etc etc, like it's just way too direct toward the listener and the only way I won't feel uncomfortable with sexual content is if I'm more removed from it. While R18 cds, especially situation voice where they're talking directly to the listener, are wayyy too direct lmao like please don't involve me.

I think some of the storylines for R18 cds can be very interesting, but I just don't really enjoy having to listen to the parts that are just explicit sex so it feels like I'm just kind of forcing myself to sit through those parts to hear the story. I know that the point IS the sexual content but that's why I think these cds aren't suited for me because that just isn't what I'm looking for. This is just my personal opinion - I'm glad for everyone who enjoys them!

It just ehem, Kzentertainment is too... chaotic or crazy. I mean at least dusk sometimes have a redeem arc for the yandere character, while Kzentertainment just focus on R-18 part. They're gradually become experts on NTR and other crazy tags lol

If someone can't handle Kankinkon, then some of Kzentertainment drama cds aren't for them (their old one probably still safe!). They released a lot of drama cds too, because if some artist on dlsite have a successful manga, Kzentertainment sometimes adapts that manga into drama cd.

I don't remember listening to their BL drama cd, is the quality that bad? They tried video too (Live 2D, maybe?) if I'm not wrong.

I'm really happy to hear from someone who prefers all-ages content—thank you! I only recently started listening to all-ages works myself, but I've noticed that some of them can still have pretty intense lip sounds and similar effects, even though they're "all-ages." I was a bit surprised because I originally thought those kinds of things wouldn't be included at all. Since CDs are something you listen to directly with your ears, it might naturally feel like the characters are speaking straight to you. But for me, I tend to think of myself as separate from the heroine—almost like I'm hiding in the wall or on the ceiling just observing everything. It might sound a bit strange lol.

Hmm, I see. I'm actually kind of curious about what kind of "crazy" performances they do lol.
Personally, I don't really have an issue with extreme R-18 tags. Well, I'm not really into R18G or overly disgusting content, but when it comes to extreme erotic material, I actually welcome it.

There are quite a lot of drama CD adaptations of popular manga, right! At first, I was really surprised—like, "Wait, they're giving female voices to female characters in women-oriented works!?" I actually like the natural flow of dialogue, but I'm not very comfortable with high-pitched voices, so sometimes I find them a bit distracting. It's a bit complicated lol.

That said, I don't really remember which title it was, but I just recall thinking the quality was so low it was hard to listen to, especially considering it was priced the same as commercial CDs. (Both in terms of sound quality and overall storytelling.)
I didn't know they also tried video content. They really do branch out into a lot of different things. I just hope there are some works that suit my taste as well.

Aaa I'm glad my comment was appreciated... I was a bit scared because I didn't want to sound like I was saying R18 works are bad or anything (which I definitely don't think of course, and I am still able to listen to them). Yeah... some all-ages works still do have pretty intense lip sounds, etc, which isn't exactly my preference either, but at least it's more bearable to me than explicit sexual sounds lol. Maybe those should be tagged as R15 instead of all-ages... because the literal meaning of all-ages technically includes children and I definitely do not think children should be listening to lip sounds etc haha.

I'm actually the exact same as you in the sense that I also see myself as separate from the heroine and I don't think of the character as talking directly to me, the listener. I really relate to pretending I'm an observer on the wall or ceiling because that's exactly how I feel too lol. However, because it's still spoken directly in my ears with no other voiced character to act as a buffer, it still feels a bit awkward even though I don't see myself as the heroine, especially if it's binaural audio. It feels like I'm hiding in the wall of the scene but I've stumbled into something wayyy too intimate that I shouldn't be observing lmao. I guess it's because audio (or visuals) makes it seem more concretely explicit compared to writing (which can focus on inner thoughts more), so it makes the sexual content feel more in my face?

It's natural for people to have different opinions and preferences, so I didn't take your comment in a negative way at all. Of course, that's also because you were clear that you meant no malice or hostility and chose your words carefully—but really, there's no need to worry so much. Thank you.

Right, exactly! I thought the same thing too. Works with lip sounds or similar elements should probably be labeled R15, haha.
Yeah, I totally get what you mean. I also sometimes end up feeling like I've accidentally slipped in between the main characters, haha.

Im new to the whole hobby and have a lot of r18 stuff but im finding that Carnival and the Rejet shinsengumi one are so good! I love when there is plot and stakes, otherwise it can be quite tiresome. I need to know more AA series that are heavy in plot to follow...

Men as an aroace enjoying romance drama CDs be like 🏃
Me being aroace might also have something to do with it lmao
Anyway, for me... I enjoy both.

I actually got into R18 audio because i almost already listened to free AA audio's, and i was also curious since some adult audio has interesting story concepts. But the more R18 audio i listened, the more i realized that a lot of the stories felt... pretty repetitive.

I can't really complain since i'm just a free listener who found most of them through a few websites. But it's funny how sometimes i miss AA audio. Those tracks usually put much more focus on the conversations and character interactions, whereas most R18 audio spends the majority on the adult scenes. And so for now when i searching doujin, sometimes i check the writer first. It makes me easy to find the kind of plot that i'm actually looking for.

Omg shinsengumi mention!!! Its one of my all time favourite AA cds, I'm not joking when I say this series genuinely gave me depression 🥲 it made me think so much about how war is so devastating and how it affects the people you love, im literally gonna cry again just thinking about this 😭😭 like the MC and LIs just go through so much pain and suffering and its like, enough fighting, i just want peace please :(( saito's volumes will forever leave a hole in my heart

Oh and not to mention how HEARTBREAKINGLY SAD the ost is... whenever this fuckass track in particular plays you bet im crying screaming throwing up. Oh and this track as well needs to pay for the years of therapy i will be needing after listening to it

Oh, really? That's surprising! I thought you were a veteran in this scene!
Even so, when it comes to AA, you're still much more experienced than I am, since I only started listening recently, so I don't really have any recommendations myself. But while I was asking ChatGPT for translations, it somehow ended up suggesting some titles, so I'll share them with you. I hope there's something in there that matches what you're looking for.
