It's like =)) My feeling when I finally finish a game I've been sleeping on for way too long is just relief that it's finally over, not real joy or anything. Because I like to go for almost 100% completion once I start playing, whether I actually enjoy it or not, and I refuse to move on to a new game until the old one is done =)) So at some point, it starts feeling more like an obligation than actual entertainment.

Has anyone else ever experienced this feeling? What do you usually do to snap out of it?

Yes, I've felt that way, but honestly, if I don't like a game enough to play it for a long time, I just abandon it or play a short otome game like DL.

I have had a similar experience before: playing games has become a level with everyone, so that everyone can achieve 100% completeness. Then, when I don't reach the goal, I will look for a new job, no matter how long it takes.

It was not until the end of the game that I felt the sense of accomplishment, as if I had completed a work task, and then I felt exhausted. Playing games should be a relaxing and enjoyable activity, not a task that must be completed.

Now I'll try to change it. I no longer pursue perfect clearance, but strive to achieve at least one character ending in each game. If I feel tired, I will take a break or play another game. I may start with some short fan games, which have a shorter process than commercial works and are easier to achieve my goals.

I hate having unfinished games in my backlog, or even rating games when I haven't completed them fully. Dropping a game feels even worse, so I sometimes push myself through it just to be done with it, though it can affect my rating depending on how much I enjoyed it. 😭

When a game doesn't really click with me, I just let it sit while focusing on a different game I actually enjoy, and slowly work on the stalled one when I maybe have less time to focus on something else I want to give my full attention to, or when I can't decide what to play next. I really do get the feeling of a game starting to feel like an obligation though, it's easy to burn yourself out when you push yourself to play something you don't fully enjoy.

I used to be like that but no more. I play because I want to spend a good time and not get stressed about it, and sometimes I don't like the game enough to follow it until the end.

Now, if I feel play other thing I'll do it, I applied "follow your heart"

I am basically the same as you, but I can play several games at the same time. However, the games I have played must be 100% complete, with all CG and endings gathered. I feel uncomfortable if I don't finish it. Completing the game 100% is more like a relief and task for me, and there are also games that are very attractive to me that I will be happy to complete completely. I think I should be obsessive-compulsive disorder, hahaha

I'm also the type who wants to complete everything, so it's tough.
When that happens, I play a short game to take a break.

I drop games halfway through if I don't like them (though that rarely happens).
Since my backlog is only full of games I'm interested in, finishing one gives me a sense of accomplishment.

If playing a game starts to feel like a chore, I think it's best to switch it up with another game.
