what's your opinion on doomed romance in otome games?

I prefer doomed endings but it depends on how well written they are. I personally like the pacing on overreqz where the bad and good end are immediately divided at the middle part of the story which fleshes out the story even more. Playing the doomed routes after finishing their happy endings breaks my heart even more. I also dont mind a fully tragic otome because if I dont want happy endings to feel repetitive then id opt for dark otomes to balance out the mood. Anyways I play otome for the relationship dynamics so i dont really mind if it's happy or sad, what i want the most is for them to make me feel emotions, that's how i enjoy otomes.

I'm one of those weirdos who likes to read bad endings. Tragic endings are especially delicious. Don't get me wrong, I love a well-written good ending as well, but something about the gut punch of it all gets me right in the feels.

That said, it actually does bum me out when it's the LI who suffers. I'd rather the MC die tragically than see my favorite LIs in a bad situation
