Whats the most well written Otome game you've played?

I've played quite a few Otome games (most of the major switch releases and their sequels) but honestly I can't ever think of a moment where I thought wow this writing is really good, its usually just me enjoying the game without thinking on it too hard. I think the closest I've had to getting wowed by a game's writing is Even if Tempest, I was really immersed I played the game straight from start to finish with only the necessary breaks. But it was hard for me to ignore how rushed and off some parts of the story especially towards the latter half of the game was. I really hate that one portion that was basically a glorified infodump to half assedly tie up some loose ends. The game couldve benefitted a great ton by just having a little bit more time in the oven but it was still one of my best Otome experiences overall.

I've played a lot of otomes, and i wouldnt even call EIT the best one/my favourite, but it really /did/ have standout writing... however, i think a lot of the writing was just "okay", like a lot of otomes (nothing wrong with that - i think the average game in general is like that) - until zenn's route, for some reason? Zenn's route had a writing quality increase so absurd that it was really shocking.

Totally reminded me of my favourite novel - I probably would've forgotten all about the game if it hadnt been for that segment. Club Suicide's writing was good at times, but it never really "wowed" me, so I think my pick is the same as yours.

(Editing before approval - I totally forgot about Jack Jeanne. I think jack jeanne probably has the best writing, just on account of being from Sui Ishida, but EIT is still up there, LOL)

I've heard a lot of good about Jack Jeanne, will probably play it soon. Anyways yeah I agree with most otome writing being okay at best. I guess its understandable since its a genre meant for self indulgence above anything else but I still wish it had more examples of superb writing. Its a shame because a lot of the plotlines in otome games are extremely interesting, Virche had an extremely good and unique plot but the writing quality and the nonsensical reveals dragged it down by a lot. I still liked its more emotional moments and characters though .

Agreed; To be honest, I just couldn't get through virche with its writing style. I'm happy, at least, that "darker" otome games are a little more popular these days. Hopefully we get a truly touching one soon.

So, I'm recommending 断罪のマリア again!

The story is long and rich…

But lately, I've been watching a lot of utapri gameplay videos.

Although I've always thought the utapri storyline wasn't written very well, after watching a bunch of these videos, I've realized that utapri is actually a series that pulls everything together quite well—if you look closely, the story is actually pretty interesting.

Oh wow that game looks interesting, sadly I don't speak Japanese. It might be time for me to setup a local translation llm lol, my pc should be good enough for it hopefully.

I think Blackish house
Playing it rn and it's VERY good

Romance is developing naturally, story is interesting and has some mysteries, every character has different psychological problems and we help them to deal with it

And it gave me one of my favourite LI of all time (I have 2 routes left maybe there will be another one)
