Whats a pet peeve of yours in otome CDs?

Whether it's if the LI says something cringe or if the plot/explicit scenes are executed weirdly, what's a pet peeve that annoys you when listening to CDs?

Mine is when the guys always say "shiroi hada" or "chiisai na te/karada" to the heroine 🫩 like once again even in female-oriented media that i use to escape, im still subject to these crazy traditional beauty standards... because NO im sorry that im not a 4'11 ft 45kg pale petite babe it totally breaks me out of my immersion when they say that because it would obviously not apply to me and my southeast asian ass lmao

Hmmm, I listen to mostly AA tracks, but my biggest pet peeve is low effort writing in some series. If you think about it, some CDs are 1.5-2h long (per volume). That is almost like the whole ass movie. So why in the world in so many cases I finish the CDs and absolutely nothing happens T-T.

I understand it is partly due to situation CD nature, but personally I would like to see some more story heavy ones? (also it can be my skill issue of picking good matches)

Probably not a popular opinion, but I usually treat Drama CDs as sleep sounds with voice If things get too loud or the dialogue gets a little too intense it kinda pulls me out of it.
That's one reason I prefer commercial works over doujins a bit in otome, they're usually much more careful about that kind of thing. (*´ｰ`人)blessed

When it comes to situation CDs, I'd say it's the "anticipating the listener's response" trope. It's when a character says what the heroine (the listener) was about to say or responds on her behalf, but if that happens too often, it disrupts the flow and takes away from the sense of realism.
Also, when a writer's signature style comes through and similar phrasing appears in different CDs, it feels like they're cutting corners.

It immediately breaks my immersion. I know I'm not the original target audience for these CDs so I dont fault them on it but, correct me if I'm wrong, every Japanese person's nipples arent pink right? (my post is entering weird territory, excuse me)
Anyway its both amusing and immersion-breaking when I hear that lol. Its always pink.

an admittedly not super common complaint, but utensil noises. it gives me shivers even at the thought.
there's some that are so high pitched and twangy that it's a current straight to my brain. like nails on a chalkboard. (・`ω´・)

I think for me it's when the LI uses kotobazeme and treat you like trash. And using violence like yelling at you, spanking or strangling. I don't enjoy those as much. I appreciate yanderes, but I need to feel there is some love for MC.

Verbal humiliation may be acceptable as a form of flirtation when kept mild, but excessive or repetitive use is less desirable.
Though I don't engage my brain while listening to CDs, excessive humiliation is unnecessary.
Also, tracks that are just pure moaning get boring for me if they go on for too long.

Whenever they speak English... no offense, but sometimes i got awkward listening to it.

There was one cd where i thought it was going to be a nice, relaxing audio. Then a few minutes in, he suddenly started reading a fairy tale from an English storybook. At first, i thought it would only last a few seconds, so i tried to stick with it. Then i realized, "Oh no... he's actually going to read the entire story."

Yeah... I stopped listening right there.

OMG I should have also mentioned this because it also throws me off so bad!!!! And youre right, even japanese people or people with light skin can have dark coloured nipples (this sounds so weird to say help)

Not to be that person but it lowkey makes me a little bit insecure sometimes I know its stupid to feel because its just a silly otome cd, but as someone who consumes alot of east asian media (including kpop) its just so obvious that pale skin is such a highly desired trait, a trait i do not have

I can usually handle pretty heavy or messed up audio, but baby play...;;; Theres actually one title from Parasite Garden that i've been want to listen because i love this circle.

Tbh, i've never listened to anything with baby play. I was planning to make that title to be my first experience baby play genre, but after seeing you guys conversations... Im feel a little nervous now

opps sorry, i shouldnt include it here, so maybe i'll change another pet peeve of mine is strangling/suffocate moment, sometime the sounds make me hold my breath and feel pity for the heroine at the same time, moreover the male keep asking kurushii? ne kurushii? shut the f up, she cant breath over there, omg!

as for the baby play, the first time i actually listen it was 茶介 drama cd. if i remember correctly it was ばぶばぶ本舗,
i mean, sure he has daddy voice but i dont want to hear he literally bcome my daddy omg

yeeeah in babyplay there's definitely breastfeed moment and yes we are the one receiving the breastfeed sure you can try it, good luck for you! hope it didnt give you much damage..

Reading about the things you all find awkward really made me laugh! It's interesting how everyone has different things they aren't comfortable with. Personally, I enjoy listening to any kind of gameplay, but I struggle with repeating the lines the heroine says. After all, in real life, you wouldn't just repeat someone's words word-for-word.
I prefer scenarios where I can naturally imagine, "I wonder if the heroine said it like that?" without having to actually repeat the lines myself.

I also feel a bit taken aback—or rather, I find myself thinking "hmm..."—when lines that sound like an explanation of a reaction suddenly pop up.

Licking, sucking, kissing noises, etc all make sense and are fine, but if the scene is about kissing or cunni, then WHY does it sound like the VA is having the most delicious insane super ramen slurping session possible?? I hate it...

Someone here mentioned Imitation Moaning and I STRONGLY agree. I don't like it when the guy ridicules the MC anyways, but ridiculing her for being vocal about her pleasure is just so cruel to me. It PMO bad.

Last thing I'll all... bad SFX. I've listened to some drama CDs before that were seriously fully ruined by very badly made SFX. The kind where you gotta pause the CD and just think what the hell is the SFX team doing?? Makes me feel bad for the VA too. He's here doing a killer performance and they just couldn't pair it with better quality SFX...?
