What pulls you first when getting into an otome game/BL?

All I need is a character that fit my taste. One of the li, or even background / side characters must be my type, or else I'll probably never play it. It doesn't matter if it has the bet plot ever, if I find the all characters unattractive I'm not playing it...

Well, for me, I'm always looking for the token female love interest in otome games.
If there's one, it's almost certain I'll play it, but if not, I don't care about the art or the plot, I just need at least one character I'm into personality-wise

The illustrations—if they look good, they give me motivation to keep playing, but if the story isn't up to par, I won't play it at all. So in the end, it really has to be someone who's actually played it who can give a proper review!

For me, it's usually the character design that pulls me in first.

The visuals, i think. I'm really easy to hook with attractive character designs and beautiful artwork. A good-looking cast and art style are usually what make me stop and take a closer look at a game in the first place.

First the li character and art thenheroine, and the story that look interests

Then I'll look for small spoilers about the game to see if there's anything interesting in the gameplay.

Character designs. I'm a big sucker for visuals so if there isn't at least one love interest who appeals to me I probably won't play the game.

The art and visuals! If the art is stunning and the story grabs my attention, I'll definitely play it (especially if the love interests are super handsome guys).

I always prioritize the love interests' appearance and the art style! Unfortunately, I'm shallow enough to judge otome games based on looks, so if a game is beautiful = I'll play it without a second thought! But if it's "ugly"... sometimes I never even start 😭 so basically, just give me hot guys, a smart and beautiful protagonist, and great art, and I'll devour the whole thing!

For me, visual on LIs the hook for me. I don't mind if there no va or mid writing, but atleast the LIs is hot:ROFLMAO:

Whether it has my fav seiyuus plays a major role in my decision to play but I have played many games just because of the plot, if the story can pique my interest, then I will play it.

So for me it's seiyuu > story > character.

There's three things that are deal breakers for me:
1. Seiyuus
2. Art style
3. Plot and themes
Not necessarily in that order but are pretty important if I'm interested or not. Usually if one of this doesn't meet my criteria I still give it a try tho...

Drama/mystery is what hooks me; I love me a good suspenseful story. (≖ᴗ≖✿)

Honestly reasons are different
With one game my friends recommend this
With another I was interested in setting/story
Or it had good reviews and I wanted to check this

It's mainly the story, character design, and music that attract me. A BL game I played recently is like that—I didn't really like it at first, but the story turned out to be surprisingly engaging, even though the character design wasn't great, haha. I also play games because of the music, even though most of the time only the music is good, haha. I guess my interests are pretty broad.

I general it's probably the story and the art but an odd hook I have is for game UI, i'm a sucker for doujin games with super pretty interfaces and it makes me really wish there were more Otome/BL games from the older pc 98 era with super elaborate pixel menus and text boxes.

Mine would be the synopsis of the story and the artstyle. The artstyle catches my attention, then if I find the premise interesting, I'll play it. Bonus points if it has a character design/archetype that I adore.

otome: an uneven mix of seiyuu > visuals tbh

bl: 100% visuals it's very hard for me to stick to/even try a game if none of the charas appeal to me 😭😭

The character designs have to be BEAUTIFUL. Im so in love with NU: carnival's outfit designs, idk who is in charge of designing them but it is just amazing. Another thing that really pulls me in is the voice actors ofc, i like specific kinds of voices tho ( ̄▽ ̄;)

The story is the most important element, followed by the visuals and voice acting, which are equally important.
A compelling story, combined with beautiful visuals and acting that fully convey its appeal, is essential.

Ah, what pulls me in first is actually the voices. I'm okay with mid art or a boring setting as long as the voice acting is peak

Like the others above, I vote for the story and the art style. I think the two should be the most appealing so that you can play through to the end.
