What otome genre you most enjoy?

I am honestly open to any genre. There are periods of time where I might be more into one genre than another, but that's usually just because I end up getting into a piece of media that's a certain genre so I want more like it, but to be honest, it's probably just that one piece of media that I like rather than the larger genre. I think different genres can be interesting depending on what I'm looking for at the moment. If I want more elaborate world building, I would go for more speculative genres like fantasy, or sci-fi, which I feel is weirdly lacking in otome for some reason? Which is a shame because I feel like sci-fi can be very relevant to current society in terms of commentary because it explores the implications of technology and contrasts that with what it means to be human, and things like emotion, which I feel is quite interesting when combined with romance (not to say that romance/love makes someone human, but love definitely is something related to emotion so I feel like common sci-fi themes, like something in relation to genuine emotion vs artificiality or something, would be interesting). For fantasy, I feel like I tend to prefer more unique worlds, rather than a more typical western medieval fantasy type, but again, anything can be fine.
But sometimes, I prefer when the focus is smaller in scope and less to do with the overall world and instead just characters on a smaller scale, and that's when I like slice-of-life or realistic settings, where there's no need to establish a new world so more focus can be put into characters and smaller, character-driven conflicts. I actually think slice-of-life can be very difficult to do well without making it boring, as the writer will have to breathe new life into everyday life, but I think that can become very profound and touching because of its relevancy and the act of depicting even something seemingly ordinary (just like most of the days in our lives) as important.

I like anything fantasy and mystery. My faves are Clock Zero, 7 Scarlet, and Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk to name a few. On the other hand, I cannot stand horror so I stay away from 9 RIP (nice art though) and Homicipher.
Edit to say that Clock Zero is technically sci-fi. I like any setting that is not the real world.

You should try 9 Rip, the 'horror' doesn't really exist, it's more about spirits.
It's one of my favorite games. It isn't designed to be scary.

The RIP in the title essentially is just because half the love interests are ghosts or part of the spirit world (yokai, etc)
At most the game deals with some sadness

I'd say the otome genres I most enjoy are horror, psychological, dark, and distorted themes, because they focus on intense emotions, obsessive love, and morally complex characters, creating a gripping atmosphere where romance feels dangerous, unpredictable, and deeply immersive rather than light or purely sweet.

Oh man this is hard because I don't really pay attention to the genres of otomes I play 
I tend to consume whatever interests me! So fantasy, sci-fi, historical drama or even slice-of-life—if I like it and the plot is interesting (and the LIs r hot hehhehehehehe), I'd play them.
Though I do have tendency to avoid dark themes/heavy angst
Back then I'd eat them up, but nowadays I just want something comforting or funny. I had enough of being sad lmao.

I'm lowkey playing otome as some sort of escapism,, Fantasy genre does the job. Any otome that involve contemporary/modern settings aren't really my thing
