There was one food manga (Shoku King) in my home that was missing one issue, and I happened to find that issue at one shop near my school. I took it, paid for it, and left...only for me to realize that the book I've bought was for rent...and the shopkeeper did not seem to aware of it, either...it had been a few years since it happened, however.

On the opposite side of that shop was another shop. At one time I went there just to read Rockman X(1) manga that was for rental...I kept doing that for some time and the owner offered to *sell* me all three of that Rockman X(1) manga. He said that no one reads them anyway. I accepted that offer.

Well, I guess many people just read manga online as opposed to hard copy..but I just want to ask this anyway...

My story happened a few years ago and I still find it funny until now..
I was browsing the local bookstore when I saw a neglected pile of manga in the corner. Checking it out I discovered they were originals(raws) in good condition, plastic sleeves and all. And they cost a fraction of a translated work's price and pretty rare from where I am、so I quickly dug through the pile to get myself a deal. Alas at the time I kept my distance from shoujo manga, which constituted most of the pile. In the end I walked out of that shop carrying a single volume from Kawata Kaoru's 'Motto Good Kiss', Nishiyama Yuriko's 'Dragon Voice', Kikuchi Hideyuki's 'Makai Gakuen', Kumeta Kouji's 'Yuke! Nangoku Ice Hockey-bu' and two volumes of Higuchi Daisuke's 'Whistle', set volumes apart from each other.

So did I enjoy reading them when I got back home? Nope.
I found out I couldn't maintain enough interest to go through those them without reading the first volumes where they introduced them characters. So until now I'm collecting the whole set for that complete reading experience.

Remember that all link contributions will be re-uploaded as best as possible. Keep in mind that some will not be available because they can no longer be found. So I will see if they are still sold digitally. I hope they are available.
I don't know if it's because of the times when users are more active. But if you have the possibility to download a torrent file, at least keep it on your PC for some time so that it can be shared, or at least upload it to a cloud storage service like MEGA or MediaFire, etc.
Any requests, send me a message about anime music. I will do my best to help you since I also like anime music. Remember to download the complete torrent and at least share the files for a long time or post them here and upload them to a cloud drive for preservation.
