What makes you lose interest in an LI instantly?

For me, it's when an LI is constantly disrespectful toward the MC without any meaningful character development. I can enjoy a red flag or a difficult personality, but if there's no chemistry or reason for me to root for their relationship, I usually lose interest pretty quickly.

What about you? What's your instant turn-off when it comes to LIs?

bad dialogue options can ruin everything. if its an airhead character and all your options is being mean to them for no reason (or just in general pre-programmed mc dialogue) i just cant continue to interact

I agree that constantly disrespectful behavior is annoying, but sometimes I can tolerate it if MC fights back fiercely. I completely hate it when the MC becomes meek and too forgiving, like a saint.

Other than that are a lack of personality or charm, zero character growth, and an inability to make his own choices (like a broken doll that needs a puppeteer).

Being boring, or annoying! ;b I can excuse many things, as long as the character is compelling. However, a LI that doesn't really change during the story, or is too generic and bland will sour him for me.

Same with being too annoying... I'm not too into oyaji LIs that treat the MC as a kid for that, for example, as they can start to annoy me if they undermine her autonomy (but I'm willing to forgive if the dynamic is fun, lol). When the dynamic is not written as purposefully toxic, it just comes off as patronizing and annoying to me

The moment I instantly lose interest in a romantic interest is, without a doubt, when a "character breakdown due to a misinterpretation" occurs.
Even if a character is usually portrayed as calm, composed, and cool, the moment they switch to "romance mode" and suddenly start speaking in a childish tone or their core personality wavers, I immediately think, "This isn't the kind of sweetness I was looking for…" and my heart drifts away in an instant.
What drew me in was "that special passion directed at me while still staying true to their character," and if they become someone completely different the moment they get all sweet, I instantly feel a sense of emptiness and lose interest.

i agree, I instantly lose interest when an LIs being a bitch and disrespectful toward the mc or anyone else 😭

I think for me, it's also pointless disrespect. I don't mind a character having flaws or even being unpleasant at first, as long as there's a reason for it and their behavior actually develops afterward. But if he constantly treats the protagonist badly, looks down on her, or crosses certain boundaries and the story just expects me to accept it because he's the love interest, I lose interest pretty quickly.

When a LI calls the MC kitten unironically and thinks they're spitting fire. Got the ick so quick I actually alt f4d the game. Like, don't get me wrong, I think it can work sometimes but when they're so serious about it, it just gives me full body cringe.

Also when being a butthole is their entire personality with no growth or even a little bit of kindness. No mystery to them, just butthole.

If they are full of pride themselves. Or more like closeminded person @-@. Nah, I just ignored them completely. And also if they are minor. If they fall in love easily, like huh?... Uhm please give me some thrill.

for me it's when the li is bland as hell and their whole personality is just "cold and attractive" like okay bro we get it you have cheekbones but DO YOU HAVE A PERSONALITY??? if the jokes are dry, the dialogue is dry, the chemistry is nonexistent, and every interaction is just him staring at the mc like he's trying to read their mind, i'm out 😭 give me banter, give me personality, give me something. i need an li who can actually hold a conversation and make me laugh, not just stand there looking pretty and being emotionally constipated

Probably an LI who's constantly arrogant or talks down to the MC. 😭 I can enjoy confident or difficult characters, but if he's always treating her like she's stupid or beneath him, I lose interest pretty quickly.

When the character is a playboy, that's just a trope that I cannot stand. And as everyone has already mentioned, a stupidly mean LI is so off putting.

LIs who act like MC is this dainty precious princess who cant lift a finger and therefore are super overbearing, controlling and overprotective... Saying shit like no ojou sama its too dangerous (its not), no ojou sama dont trust him! Ojou sama, let me handle it and you just stand still and do nothing! No ojou sama dont do that! UGHHHHH LET ME BREATHEEEEUH. Dont get me wrong I love protective and kind LIs but you can still be protective and caring whilst still respecting MCs agency and wishes instead of treating her like a weak child!

Overly rude love interests that doesn't change their behaviour for too long, I love tsunderes but even i have my limits lol. Also sometimes characters voice actor sounds bad for my ears and it takes me some time to get used to it.

The plot or behavior of the character seriously violates my personal three views and will make me lose interest in him.

I think when I found out that the male protagonist had a white moonlight or loved a woman deeply in his heart, and used the female protagonist as a substitute, I would immediately give up on him and not play anymore.

When playi otomes it is the type that disrespects and humiliates other women if they are not the mc, it is an extreme turn off to date one of those and when playing bl i would say is the "i am straight type" my brother in christ you were b**** deep in the mc last night.

I've got three major turn-offs: an emotionally unstable brat whose only pasttime it to bully the MC (rot in hell Kanato), a womanizer who is constantly surrounded by a flock of other women (I'd never be smitten by you Ikki), and a LI who is significantly older than the MC - unless they're a supernatural being.
