Hi! As I am new here, I wanted to know you all just a little bit! ( ˶>ᴗ<˶)

I have been playing Wizard of Oz recently, and I really like it so far because of the story, maybe it will even become of my favorites! (And the CGs are so pretty too)

What is your favorite otome game you have played so far?

My all-time favorite otome game has to be Wand of Fortune. ❤️

This game opened up a whole new world of philosophy for me, which is probably the biggest reason it has stayed with me for so long. It isn't just an otome game with romance sprinkled on top. It has a surprisingly rich world, its own systems and rules, and a lot of philosophical ideas woven naturally into the story. The more I played, the more I found myself thinking about things like destiny, free will, human nature, what it means to live, and what kind of choices actually define a person.

And honestly, it has EVERYTHING. Comedy, drama, romance, fantasy, magic, emotional moments, and characters who actually feel like complete people rather than just romanceable archetypes. The cast has so much personality and depth, and I love how their relationships and individual stories develop over time.

The worldbuilding is another huge selling point for me. The magical world feels like it was carefully constructed rather than simply being a backdrop for the romance. There are systems and rules behind how things work, and everything feels surprisingly coherent within the setting. I really appreciate fictional worlds that feel like they could continue existing even if the protagonist weren't there.

But what I love most is how long the story follows the heroine's life. You start with a cheerful, innocent 15-year-old girl who is still figuring out who she is and what she wants from life, and the story eventually takes her all the way into adulthood, marriage, and even having children.

And yes, the fact that the children actually appear in the drama CDs, with all of the love interests getting to play their roles as fathers, absolutely sends me. It gives such a wonderful sense of having watched these characters grow up together and seeing their relationships actually reach somewhere. It makes the whole journey feel incredibly fulfilling.

There are very few otome games that give me that feeling of having experienced an entire life rather than simply completing a romance route.

So for me, Wand of Fortune is basically the definition of a perfect otome game. It has romance, but it also has philosophy, character development, worldbuilding, comedy, drama, and this incredible sense of growth and progression. I genuinely can't think of a part of it that I would want to take away.

It's one of those games where, after finishing it, I just sit there thinking, "Yep. This is exactly what I want from an otome game."

My favourite is probably the Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side games.
The stat-raising loop is so addictive, and I love how much your choices actually matter - from what you wear and what room you pick to your stats and which characters you interact with.
There are so many endings you can get, the minigames can be surprisingly challenging, and the music is really good too. I also love how there's so much hidden content to unlock, such as secret character routes/endings.
Overall, the games are really nostalgic for me, they have an atmosphere that really captures early-2000s high school life.

Oh, my, thank you for the detailed comment!

I haven't played Wand of Fortune before, but it sounds like an incredible otome game
\(*´ᗜ`*)/♡

It is really difficult to find otome games that don't end just a little bit after the confession or at the end of the plot resolution. So, I am curious of how that game would tackle that!

Maybe I will buy and play it after I finish Wizard of Oz!

Thank you for your comment!

You have just unlocked a memory of mine, haha. I remember I played a little bit the 1st Love Ds version when I was younger! But I didn't get far playing it because of the language barrier (my mother language is Portuguese, and I didn't know English and Japanese at the time).

Maybe I should try to play it again, I am almost sure I will like it too since I have been returning to the y2k vibes again.

That's awesome! There's even Switch remasters of the games now (that also have English patches). Although I still prefer the DS versions because it's nostalgic haha.
