What drama CDs or situation CDs would you recommend for beginners?

What drama CDs or situation CDs would you recommend for beginners?
Up until now, I've mostly listened to R18 and BL drama CDs, but recently I've become interested in SFW otome-oriented CDs as well.
The problem is that there are so many series out there that I have no idea where to start.

What was your introduction to the genre?
If you were recommending something to a newcomer today, what would you suggest?
I'd love to hear your recommendations!

I think the Otona no Meruhen series would be great for beginners getting into r18 drama cds!! Its a cute fairytale retelling CD series, mostly light-hearted with simple and familiar plots. There's alot of fluff and no questionable dub/noncon so it wouldn't be too crazy for a beginner as well!

I'm actually kind of confused. On DLsite, there are these R18 CDs that are cheap and super popular. I bought one once—it was 45 minutes of nothing but moaning, no story, no dialogue, no script, just R18 sounds the whole time. Simple enough. But why do these kinds of CDs get such great reviews and sell so well?
But personally, I still prefer CDs that have some kind of story and script.
I guess it all depends on what you like to listen to, or whether you have any specific voice actors you're into.

幽幻ロマンチカ is a cute and wholesome series surrounded by yokai characters. One of my favorite details is that the heroine actually grows older from one series to another. 恋色始標 also has a fairly light story. I really enjoyed several volumes from this series, though i'd give a small warning since one of the routes involves a teacher-student relationship. 初メテノ夜 is a relaxing series where you simply chat with the character after your wedding. Its perfect if you're looking for something calm and comforting.

As for R18, I'd definitely recommend the Reversible series. Volume 1 is my top favorite. The heroine is so good at teasing him, and the va performance makes the character even more cute and lovable.

I usually buy mostly commercial CDs, so I'm really surprised by how cheap doujin CDs on DLsite are.
The cat on the cover is so cute lol. I'll try listening to it tonight!

There are actually quite a lot of vanilla drama cd's out there. For example, かんじくんとの一生. I dont know much about the product itself since i only listened to it randomly on Bilibili. Its about the relationship between the heroine and the character, following them from childhood all the way through college. Especially loved how soooo tsundere the male lead was, and of course, the fact that he's voiced by Satou Takuya.

The ロマンスコネクト series is another one i'd recommend. So sad just only listened to two volumes so far from Bilibili, but i absolutely loved both of them. The communication between the heroine and the character genuinely healthy and wholesome, which made their relationship really enjoyable to listen.

I've never heard of Kanji-kun to no Isshou before. I really like stories that follow the characters over the course of many years, so I'd love to listen to it. And Satotaku playing a tsundere sounds amazing! I'll see if I can find it on Bilibili.
Romance Connect sounds great too! I really liked the story descriptions on the official website. Every volume looks really interesting, so I'm definitely going to check them out as well. Thanks for the recommendations!

The heroine never really takes his constant grumbling or complaints seriously. Instead, she treats them as another chance to get to know him better . She even keeps laughing every time he starts complaining over the smallest things (well, me too, girl ).

I also absolutely love how the heroine is written in this one. Realistically, though, this guy would probably be done for because he's honestly pretty rude to women at first. But at the same time, he's also the type who keeps talking just to keep the conversation going and make things more entertaining. Yes heroine, i get what you mean .

On top of that, he actually cares about the heroine's health and appearance. He even recommends skincare and makeup products to her. Wait... do guys like this actually exist?

You're right!
I didn't really think about it because it's a drama CD, but yeah, if someone like him existed in real life, he'd come across as a bit rude at first.
But I think what made it so enjoyable was that, even though you could tell what the heroine had said, he didn't have to spell everything out or use overly cheesy lines. Combined with the heroine's personality, their conversations felt really natural and fun.
Well, putting his grumpy side aside, I think it would actually be fun to know a guy who can talk about skincare and makeup! Beauty-conscious guys are becoming more common these days, so maybe people like that really do exist.
I can't wait to listen to the other CDs too! I usually listen to them before going to bed, but then I end up falling asleep halfway through, so it takes me several days to finish just one. I seriously need a vacation just to listen to drama CDs.

Oh, I remember the Hitsuji de Oyasumi series! I knew about it even though I didn't really listen to that genre back then. I've always been curious about it, but it's a shame that it's so hard to find now...

Yuugen Romantica is a pretty popular series, isn't it? I haven't listened to it yet, but I've definitely heard of it.
I think someone uploaded it here a while back, and I've been meaning to listen to it ever since. Since you recommended it, I'll move it up on my priority list and finally give it a listen. Thanks for the recommendation!
