What do you think about cross-dressing LIs?

I enjoy them as well! I guess one reason I like them, is the gap moe if that makes sense. Of course, LIs that feel comfortable in their own skin and don't follow strict gender norms is always a breath of fresh air.

I love them, but I have a pretty specific problem with how some are written.

I'm not a fan of when the MC is shown to be hopeless with fashion or makeup and the cross-dressing LI is viewed as being leagues ahead. Can I just see some fem4fem out here, damn…

Actually, I do enjoy a tomboy MC and a cross-dressing LI, but it also cannot involve the situation mentioned above.

I think it's one of the tropes in japanese works, especially in both adult and non adult mangas. I like them honestly, as long as it stays true to the heterosexual genre. The gap between with or without cross dressing is always interesting. A recent japanese anime based on manga, marriage toxin has a main cross dressing male character, but it's not otome though.

Very cute but not the kind of LIs I would pursue in Otomes. I don't mind men dressing up feminine at all, I see so many guys irl just being cautious on how they complement others or being envious on how others dress themselves, like you can do it to! So whenever I see something like that in some of these Otomes I feel pretty nice, I wish it was more acceptive. But overall, I do not see them in a romantically attractive setting.

There is a cross-dressing LI in VitaminX. Like it is his whole persona, it felt weird when he switch back to guy clothes and acting more mature. I was like "noooo, you were more fun when you dress as a girl". 😅

My fav was Karma Cinderella Phenomenon. Idk why but i like when man wear female clothes like Kinji Winter's Wish: Spirits of Edo . Also i like when LI wear make up like Radiant Tale Jinnia. Thought he is not cross dressing.

I love love love them! Wish they were more common, actually. My only pet peeve is when they make you fall for a love interest with this character trait... only to then hit you with an epilogue where they're no longer dressing feminine. Whiplash every time. I'd be down to sharing grandma clothes, old and grey, c'mon.

I think I like them more because of how different they are, and because the writer has to be really careful with how they handle the character more than anything else.

If you're not careful, they stop feeling like a person and start feeling more like a message™ or the writer's perfect little queer character that can do no wrong. But if you lean too hard into the feminine side, you risk making them less appealing to an audience that's mostly female, to the point where some people start wondering why the character wasn't just written as a woman instead. Then if you lean too far in the opposite direction, they just end up becoming "generic male LI #24" and lose what made them interesting in the first place.

Some writers even manage to kill all romantic or sensual appeal because they seem terrified of writing the character as someone who can actually be desired.

There are honestly so many ways to mess this trope up that whenever a game does try it, my interest immediately spikes just to see what they're going to do with it.

It's the kind of thing that still gets stigmatized very easily after all.

The last game I played with one that was this well written was The Hero's Journey. Ikenma was very pretty and very inperfect character.

I'm glad that we can have good end for him.

OMG YES!!! (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻ What even is the point when you dug the trait to grave??

I find it very sexy because I personally love androgynous characters. I like characters who have masculine features but are very beautiful when dressed as women!

love love LOVE them 💕they're so beautiful!
whether it's a genderless-looking long-haired beauty, totally feminine guy or a crossdresser that still retains masculine features, I really love them all ♡

+1 Same here, androgynous looking beautiful guy, feminine beautiful guy, crossdressing beautiful guy I adore them all. The point of retaining some of their masculine features is pretty important, I want their voice to still be masculine too
