What cliche from an otome game would you remove?

not play a hentai game wannabe.
but unlike otome, galge mcs actually do dick girls down!

but yeah some variety in mcs would be nice probably, even though i personally am not a fan of femdom. i guess dominating mcs are just not that popular with the ladies in japan>< and also because theres a lack in hentai otome in general, so a proactive mc would be harder to portray....? like, a dominant mc wouldnt awoke this "dokidoki" feeling in the reader, which is kinda the entire point of otome games. on the brighter side though, theres a whole tag for submissive men in シチュボ scene!:D
at least galge have their fair share of dominant women.. if you can stomach the average galge's contents that is..!

As expected, amnesia is what I hate the most.
Why do they lose their memories?!
I don't really like clichés such as losing memories after fainting from a huge shock, or losing memories from a head injury.

MC being too stupid to even do the basic things... It's like they are so useless. That's why I usually don't play many otome games recently. Mind you, it seems that recently is changing, which is good.

Agree with MC being useless/can't do anything should be remove. Or at least remove a scenMC starts acting independently but LIs got anxious and wants to keep protecting MC. Just let MC fight with the bad guys and protecting their precious LIs

The cliché of the good protagonist.

I want to see a villainous heroine. I like it when my MC can go the path of vice and evil with a male character who shows her the way. It's not even about dominance or boldness - it's just the slow corruption of the heroine, ideally one who starts out as a gray character so there's "fertile ground".
It would also be interesting to see a story where the heroine is a complete demoness, and the guys try to redeem her, while the MC tries to corrupt him. There would be an ending where they fall into her trap.

Hahaha, I support GB, just the physical GB, but it's unlikely. Even now, it's hard to find GB-themed writing that truly resonates with me.

omg this is sooo real lmao. why would these companies try to sell games for women to men? that defeats the entire point of the genre!!
I heard it's because that asian market is more likely to see themselves having it all in heroine; or presenting as beautiful desirable MCs. Big phallus energy? I want relatable Watamote MC CGs haha.

i guess, but they never make attractive mls in male-targeted works!! i know japanese girlies are way more lenient with this kind of stuff (most positive reviews for female-targeted doujinshi praise the fls body), but come on now D: most r18 otome are basically unreadable unless you either are attracted to women or can detach from the situation at hand!!
yet all we have is crazy cha!n staff claiming that even men can enjoy the story.. why

IMO women in general respectfully are more empathetic (or pick-me: it doesn't bother us, women bodies are an art form. female empowerment :D! (nope, the body simply...is. Harmful exaggerated art just leads it to being objectified. Stop the gaslighting! ) and sometimes go the extra mile when it comes to incorporating other group categories with well-meaning intensions. (Female LI is representation for bi/gay women to enjoy too, I get that, But this Otome genre is expected to do this. Men would throw an epic tantrum if they were told to incorporate BL in their straight eroge games :'c popular ugly bastard tag). Josei-muke > Otome label preference in future (I hope not) .The male-gazeyness is still too damn strong in media and even unconscious minds that absorb this daily. Also, there must be overly biased scrutiny on F/F and Female-gaze oriented games; girlies are too pure to get to enjoy ecchi games; not enough funding on a still niche market (even though it's proven a lot of women will throw buttoad of $$$ at the R18 content, is it plain misogyny? we got ours, screw yours? I cringe at those doujinshi panels too, so I just look harder for indie games etc whole reason I started JP learning so I could avoid witnessing mainstream popular male-catered media.

hmmm. personally i dont equate malegaze to femgaze, because my personal belief is that male gaze is physical-leaning, while femgaze is psychological-leaned. this is why there are no stories for women where a rapist would just remain a rapist douche forever -- women are just not into that. theres always a sliver of romance, obsession, and "reasoning" behind the harmful actions

this is just gigafunny because if you have even just a single year of experience with any kind of media, you would know and SHOULD know the difference between characters written for men and characters written for women. somewhat related, but this is why i laugh every time men pull some ugly marvel/dc male in tight clothing as "proof" that there is sexual fanservice for women in mainstream media too. no! marvel/dc men are drawn and written by men for men! it just doesnt work like that you morons!!

HOWEVER there are some "bl" routes in bishoujoge! the difference is that these "boys" are mostly treated like girls. as in, theyre drawn the exact same way as heroines, theyre voiced by women, and even japanese audience calls them "heroines". so i wouldnt even consider it "bl" in the true sense of the word LOL
(also kill me with rocks but im a firm believer that bl does not belong in otome in any shape or form and if you ship two lis or li and side or two sides in otome i assume you have zero respect for the genre therefore your opinions are irrelevant (which is why i have zero trust in nakayama satomi or broccoli). bl games are dying yet some people decide to invade other genres. make it make sense?)

unfortunately thats also true! theres just not enough titles to establish a clear "yuri for women" category in gaming for now sadly. its way easier with manga because manga is somehow easier to produce, which is why there are tons of female yuri mangaka and the general yuri readership is between 60% and 70%. many authors incorporate their own experiences in these manga too!

the dramacd side is dreadful though unfortunately. even if there are some fempov yuri dramacd, theyre often portrayed as something.. not exactly female-friendly ww BUT!
there have been some changes to that, which is awesome! i heard theres a new yuri circle on niconico i think? which specifically targets female yuri lovers! also sukerasono is a circle with pretty female-friendly yuri too. they also create games! and even on dlsite there are at least two circles that create yuri cds for women!!!! so in the last couple of years theres been a big shift to the positive in that regard:D
