A big one for me was Saeki from collar x malice fandisk. I don't want to spoil but I feel like they should have done more for him. I was left wanting to learn more about him.

I usually get immersed in a game's world pretty quickly, so routes rarely disappoint me. The only recent exception would be hidden route in Utsusemi no Meguri. I'm keeping it spoiler-free but somehow it ended with way more questions than answers that's still bugging me. ( -᷄ω-᷅ )

Still, casting was beyond perfect with pretty watercolor taste art style, plus romance parts are super sweet (imo) so it left a positive impression overall.

I was genuinely excited for his route. I thought we were going to get that it hurts in a good way. But when I played it, it just didnt really land for me. It felt like the route kept hinting at depth without fully digging into it, and the romance didnt build in a way that felt earned for me.

Surprisingly I actually liked Shelby more, and I usually dont even go for stoic characters

Noritsunes route in Birushana. It got hyped up so much in the r/otomegames subreddit as this peak enemies to lovers story.. they weren't entirely wrong since I genuinely did enjoy the game but i cant get over how in the end, she completely abandoned her childhood friend, Shungen, without any warning to go live a secret life with Noritsune. And we see Shungen feeling so worried for her and wondering where shes disappeared to... mind you this guy has been with her through thick and thin ever since she was a child, has cared for and protected her, likee , it just felt so wrong!!! I wish Shungen afleast got some closure about what happened but it hurts to know that he's basically living in constant worry about the love of his life who mysteriously went missing

Haruma from Blackish House. At first, he seemed like the perfect devoted childhood friend, so I was really excited when his route finally unlocked. Unfortunately, it was nothing like I expected. In fact, I ended up disliking both his personality and everything he did.

Shigure from Yoshiwara Higanbana. At first, he looked like a kind and caring master who genuinely looked after Rin. But after playing his hidden route, I became a complete anti-fan because of everything he did to her.

Shinobu from Yoshiwara Higanbana. He made all kinds of promises to Rin, but in the end, he married another woman, had children with her, and still took Rin as his mistress.

Koga Masaya from Hoshi no Oujo. I thought he was going to be a charming, sophisticated lawyer, but then he left the heroine, went abroad, got married, and had children.

Hideo, from Chou no Doku! It's not that his route is bad – I actually really liked it – but it was a bit of a letdown for me... I was expecting a little more from his route, but I guess because he and Yuriko are childhood friends, it didn't quite deliver what I was hoping for

The whole "childhood friends" trope doesn't really appeal to me, and the fact that he isn't entirely cold, serious, or indifferent left me feeling a bit "meh" about the whole thing lol. His purity and – the purity of his route – didn't really win me over because that's just not my type: adorable, pure men like him.

But I still love him anyway. Even though I expected a bit more from his route and personality, I would have loved for him to be a little sadistic and cruel in the main route (like he is in the ending where he and Yuriko are both married to other people and meet every week at a hotel)

The most recent instance was with Yuhang from Otome Daoshi. I was really excited to start his route because he's adorable, and right from the start, it was clear that his interactions with Shunli would be fun and cute—especially since he's a classic tsundere XD. I was really enjoying it, but there was a specific part in Chapter 6 that really bothered me; for me, it kind of soured my view of their relationship and dampened my enthusiasm for the route. I won't give spoilers—and since I've forgotten how to use the spoiler tags, I'll just give a really rough summary: Yuhang really lacked communication. From my perspective, their relationship felt pretty weak after that part in Chapter 6.

Another one that comes to mind is Lowd from Neon Clash. It's been a while since I played Neon Clash, so I can't quite recall what exactly bothered me about him. Actually, I don't think it was him specifically, but rather his relationship with Kroa. I really can't remember, no matter how hard I try lol, but I do remember feeling quite frustrated and a bit upset
